The Crown Inn, Battersea

The crown has new owners and new staff in place, and the new guys are doing a great job trying to re-establish this great local. Delicious pizzas are served either to eat in or take away, and lodgings will shortly be avaailable upstairs. Def worth popping in if you are in the area, it's still the best pub on lavendar hill.

You have obviously not visited recently. The pub is much brighter now after it's recent lick of paint and the atmosphere is much nicer than it iused to be.

Prices are also consistent with other pubs in the area and much cheaper than the many local wine bars!

Following my previous post about the Crown, the much awaited repaint has now happened and the pub now looks much better.

Sky is also back on the tv, so all live football (and other sports) are now being shown again.

The new manager and his better half are making great progress in making this a nice pub again, and have definitely put this pub back on the map again.

What can I say - it's my local! It's the only true pub in the area, and has changed hands several times recently. Needs a lick of paint and some TLC, and it would be a great boozer. Locals are friendly (well, most of them anyway!), and even though it has it's quiet moments during the week, can get reasonably busy at weekends. The new manager and his wife are making a real effort, and hope to get sky back soon so footy can be shown again.

Ye Olde Watling, Mansion House

A very nice pub in a nice area of town. Haven't tried it after work yet, bt presumably can get quite busy for a small bar. Food looked ok too, but again no first hand experience.

Plenty of ales for the real ale enthusiast, but plenty of choice for us lager drinkers too!

Overall, a nice little bar which I will visit again.

The Globe, London Bridge

Ok, it's not the most brightly decorted pub. Ok, it's in the middle of a building site at the moment. Ok, it doesn't have many real ales. However, it's still a decent little pub, and should not be ignored if you are in the area. The guys that run the pub nowdays make a real effort and although it can get really busy in the evening, there are normally enough staff around to get served relatively quickly. Music is on a couple of nights a week, and there can be a real buzz about the place.

Certainly beats some of the posher wine bars and touristy pubs in the area (in my opinion anyway).
