The Dog and Partridge, Bury St Edmunds

Always rammed with kids.

The Crown and Sugarloaf, Bride's Lane

Wonderfully quiet, good staff, good, cheap beer, beautiful little bar - what more does one want from a pub?

Tollgate, Bury St Edmunds

Noisy as hell.

The Harp, Covent Garden

This is a super pub. Lovely upstairs room, well kept beer which turns over quickly - good place.

The Wellington, Strand

This is a good pub. One has to hope that thumpingly big pubs like this which sit in prime locations and are proper pubs serving beer, i.e. AREN'T ghastly Slug & Lettuces etcetera, stay open, so I always like to support them. Good beer and reasonable, swiftly served food.

The Coal Hole, Strand

A reasonable boozer. Crowded sometimes - nice interior.

The Dysart Arms, Bunbury

This is a cracking pub. Perhaps my favourite.

Great food menu, wonderful views from the splendid garden, book-lined library and most importantly good beer.

The White Hart, Waterloo

Good food and good beer, both promptly served - important, as we were going on to the Railway Children at Waterloo after.

We were served by a young woman (short, brunette) whose friendly service was little short of excellent. Indeed it was so good that we came back the next day for Sunday lunch.

When we came back she recognised us and told us that my father had left his A to Z behind. Foolishly, I then forgot to collect it!

So a full week later I came into the pub and the excellent staff found it for me.

It was important to my father as he'd slipped his souvenir tickets into the pages but the staff weren't to know that this was anything other than just an old A to Z I was fussing over - nevertheless they were extremely helpful and kind.

I was very happy indeed about the service we received at the pub and we'll definitely be back!
