The Feathers, Merstham

Good news as this pub is at last under new and competent management, which in turn has heralded the return of its regulars. Staff are good and friendly and it seems to have a better atmosphere. Time will tell but already the beer tastes fine, there is now cleanliness and hygiene, food is served before you expire and the garden is now free of litter and dog mess.

The White Swan, Pimlico

Walking through Pimlico yeterday before a stroll towards Vauxhall, and happened across this pub along the way. The photo above is an old picture as the exterior of the property has changed, but this is quite a pleasant place and certainly better than the look of some of the establishments along the same stretch of road.

The Old Kings Head, Borough

Very reasonably priced where you can order a round of 3 drinks for under a tenner. Good old fashioned boozer situated down a cobble-stone path. Also has sky sports.

The Southwark Tavern, London Bridge

Like this pub. A good vibrant atmosphere on a friday evening.

The Jugged Hare, Pimlico

A decent fullers pub. Got a smile from the girl serving as soon as I approached the bar which makes you feel at home. It does a jugged hare pie which I did not have the pleasure of tasting, bu from wht I hear is a popular choice. Has a splendid interior dominated by wood pannelling, pillars and the ceiling boasts a large chandelier. 7/10.

The Mash Tun, Victoria Station

This has to go down as one of the smallest pubs in England. I deal only if you are waiting on a train or meeting someone at the station.

Pistols, Coulsdon

Shame it's owned by a chelsea fan. This pub was good when it was N B's.

The Iron Duke, Victoria station

Rubbish pub. Over-priced, poor selection of beers and rude staff. Have to be a first class safe cracker to get into the toilets.

The Greencoat Boy, Victoria

Went to this pub on a random visit to London this week. Gets very busy at lunchtimes from the local businesses. There used to be a very good cafe nearby but has since been replaced by a poncy coffee shop.

The Prince of Wales, Pimlico

Enjoyed a few pints in this place over the last few years. This is only a small pub and very easy to miss if you do not know of its existence. A lot of regulars frequent this establishment but are friendly enough, and there is a nice little outside area for smokers.

The Constitution, Pimlico

Just shooting through London yesterday and popped into this establishment. Pimlico is a bit of a swanky area and this is a nice pub. Busy with friendly staff and boasting sky sports, makes this pub better than many of the dull pubs in victoria. Will go back there. 7/10.

The Rockingham Arms, Elephant and Castle

My first experience of this pub was last saturday and it wasn't a good one. Fell under some interrogation from Millwall fans.

The Jolly Brickmakers, Redhill

After frequenting many of the pubs in the merstham/redhill area, I was pleasantly surprised to discover how friendly and laid back this public house is. The landlady and her husband are extremely welcoming; there is pool, billiards and darts, and there is also a jukebox. The beer is very good, especially the Guinness, and there is a good variety of ales.
Some nights in there are busy while at other times it gets so quiet that several of the regulars drift off gazing into their beers.

The Feathers, St James's

The fish & chips is pretty good here. As a pub, on the whole, it is pretty average. Beer average; staff average; atmosphere average.

Adam and Eve, Westminster

Always busy, especially at lunchtimes and after work. Beer is fine and they do a magnificent steak and ale pie. 7/10.

The Sanctuary House, Westminster

Always found this pub okay but it is a little pricey. Ate in there a couple of times but there seems to be a fast turnover of staff - mostly Polish. The interior is nice like most fullers pubs and the toilets are always well maintained. Give this pub a 7/10.

The Old Star, Westminster

This pub used to be okay and Carrie was nice to chat to; maybe the only human in there. The other staff, including the landlord and lady, give you the feeling that you should not be in their pub.
Do not like the new layout in there at all and the food is crap. Will do it for old times sake if I ever take part in the circle line pub crawl.

The Liberty Bounds, Tower Hill

Good pub and in an excellent location although the last time I was in there the service was very slow. The beer and food are very good. This is thus far the largest wetherspoons I have drunk in.

The Aldgate Exchange, Aldgate

Modern inside and, I would imagine, good for sport as there are several large tv screens. Didn't spend too much time in there, as we were on a tight schedule.

21 Feb 2011 15:47

The The Fen, Fenchurch St station

I liked this pub. Quaint, warm and welcoming although a bit short on space when a crowd gets in there. But this was no.2 on the monopoly crawl just after spending some time at the elephant & castle, so a welcome change.
