The Golden Lion Inn, Tipton St John

This is not a pub, it is an expensive restaurant that looks like a pub. But would it survive as it was meant to be. Is it an asset to the village or would it be better for the locals if it was turned into housing for the amount of use they have from it. Make a nice Post Office.

Hobby Horse Inn, Minehead

I rate this pub a 1 because it is still open, though I cannot understand why anyone would go in more than once. Must once have been part of the Hotel of which it occupies one downstairs corner. The car park has a car boot sale advertised weekly(?) and this is one of the establishments that lets Minehead down and will lead to its further decline. The whole end of this town is blighted by its proximity to a local holiday camp.

White Horse Inn, Moretonhampstead

The new works at the back of this place look smashing but you have to enter through the bar which is still a bit of a slum.Used to be a warm, friendly bar 40 years ago, now, with all the walls removed its like a rural bus station. The woman behind the bar wouldn't get a job with Billy Butlin (Fun king). Such a pity. Do the front up, make some money, do upstairs up and open the hotel side again. The town is full of walkers desperate for accommodation.

The Union Inn, Moretonhampstead

Great little pub run by a 'character' born in the village. Food good. Beer good. Local characters.....last of the summer wine..........No need to say more really

The Salterton Arms, Budleigh Salterton

A clean and tidy updated pub off the centre of the town. The beer is excellent and when I have been in there are usually two local beers and another like Spitfire. The food looks good and is reasonably priced. The decor is slate floor with settees, tables stools and an upstairs dining room which I see people using. Lovely atmosphere with locals and newspapers provided. If you,ve been for a walk with the dog he,s welcome as well. Great place to relax.

The Queens Arms, Slapton

Great place all round. Super beers and the first time I've seen a proper steak served in a pub. A piece of rump nearly 2" thick cooked to perfection. Not like the dry old 1/2" rubbish you see elsewhere.

The Blue Ball Inn, Sidford

There have been a few problems with the new premises here but the landlord is very willing to listen. The locals were upset because the public bar was made bigger and people were allowed to use it for dining. You cannot eat in there now. True, the bars afre too high for sitting to.The staff are settling in and its a pity that all the OLD bar staff were not replaced....The beer is still good and reasonably priced and the pub has a good atmosphere.

The Three Horseshoes, Burton Bradstock

Had the tastiest, freshest, roast beef pub Sunday lunch here today. Rare roast beef as requested, carrots and parsnips roasted in honey, red cabbage, roasted courgettes, lovely roast spuds, extra gravy instantly on asking. Great pint of Palmers Best Bitter.Left our meal on hold so that I could have my first pint. Lovely pub, lovely people.
