O'Neills, Soho

A pub to be missed. Beer awful, staff below average. The last 2 times I've been here theres been more staff than punters. Only a matter of time before O'Neills pull the shutters down.

The Lamb and Flag, Covent Garden

For 1 of the most historic bars in London this bar jhas got to be the biggest let down ever. Had a beer here and quickly moved onto a wine, which wasn't much better. Quite apart from requiring A-level languages to fulfil the simplest of tasks such as ordering a drink the atmosphere was simply horrible. No muzic. Hear good reports about food tho.

The Clock House, East Dulwich

has potential to be a blinder of a bar. something missing from the front bar. not sure tho what. the rear bar is the place to be but a non-smoking section. Argghh! Feel like I'm visiting a garden centre. Friendly staff.

The Palmerston, East Dulwich

Nice bar but very food orientated. Walk in pm and you find that 80% of the tables have 'reserved' signs on them. But then I guess food is where they make their money.

The Two Brewers, Clapham

Simply the best night out in London. Great door staff, fantastic staff, the BEST muzic. Always an A1 nite, never any trouble. Special mention for Chris and Iain at the bar. 12 out of 10. Agree with last poster, wherever you live this club is worth a visit.

The Vale Bar, Dulwich

This bar has the potential to wipe the floor with the Lordship lane bars. Firstly this place has the highest turnover of staff I've ever seen. Part of what makes a local is going in and seeing your drink being poured before you even ask for it. Staff who know your name, that kind of thing. Not all the staff can be that bad. I've know some really goo ones. Also theres a different chef every week. I agree with some of the earlier postings that I feel a little 'under the spotlight' when I go in sometimes. Beer garden in the good weather is fantastic tho. By the way to anonymous, from reading your 2 most recent postings, either you work in the bar or you are a relation/friend of the owners. The last posting is just funny!

The Capitol, Forest Hill

Visited this bar 2 weeks ago for the first time. It'll be my last. Quite possibly the worst bar I've ever been to. Bit chavy. Went there Sunday week ago at the tale end of a footy match which ended up in the rival supporters chanting songs at each other then if that wasn't bad enough the pub quiz started a few hours later. Food was cold, service dreadful and the floor staff were non-existent. Dirty ashtray, plates etc sat for hours before being cleaned.

The Corner Store, Covent Garden

Slightly off the beaten track but you can't fault this bar. It moves with the times and is never afraid to try someting new. Staff are professional and friendly. Hats off to the Manager who always greats me by name and whose name I always forget. (Sorry). Entertainment on Fri/Sat nights + the muzic (Managers playlist) is brilliant.

The Crystal Palace Tavern, East Dulwich

Without a doubt the best boozer in East Dulwich and worth escaping the comfort zone of Lordship Lane for. Seats in lounge recently recovered. Staff first class, friendly. The combination of the bar and back lounge works well. The lounge is the place to be in the winter when the fire is lit. Beer is excellent.

The East Dulwich Tavern (EDT), Dulwich

This place is devoid of any craic or character. I need GCSE languages to order a pint. Beer is sub standard. Most people who go here just can't be bothered to walk any further to another bar.

The Maple Leaf, Covent Garden

This used to be a great bar, service was excellent and the food good. Past 4 months or so have seen the service slide downhill. 2 good things about this bar, bottle of white wine @ 7.50 and George! Where has he gone?

The Crown, Covent Garden

Agree with the last comment, staff pushy when u order single spirits. If I want a double I'll ask for 1. Music was dreadful and had to wait for staff to finish their fag break before I caught their eye.

The Chandos, Trafalgar Square

Would recommend this boozer for a visit. No frills. Needs more floor staff, empty glasses and dirty ashtrays sit for too long. Staff are friendly and this place has character. I'd recommend the cider.
