The Lion Inn, Telford

Called to watch the rugby. At half time ordered a pint of Wye Valley HPA - a particular favourite after visiting the brewery. Beer took time to serve, more time to clear -which it never did and tasted like dish water.
I explained to the person behind the bar that it was not satisfactory to which he replied "I recognised you as a troublemaker - On yer bike and F*** OFF!"
As a 68 year old cyclist I was un-nerved and upset by the accusation and aggression.
I left after confirming that I could quote the above.
I was wearing a CAMRA t shirt - perhaps he had been bitten by one once? Who knows.

Waggon and Horses, Alfreton

Expected the usual Spoons offering however the real ale offering was limited - partly by the usual two 'available soons'. That tried - can't remember the name - was undrinkable with a strong metallic after taste. (reverted to bottles)
Food was hard to recognise from the menu and overcooked steak was accompanied by 10 chips, one 50p size mushroom and peas which had been boiling for weeks.
Maybe it was a busy Sat. evening however will not be returning!

The Foresters Arms, Madeley

Shropshire Gold guaranteed to be spot on, backed by other Salopian and local offerings for variety. Food still good value. Landlord welcoming and convivial. Worth a visit or two!

The Elephant And Castle, Dawley

The pub may be just finding its feet upon reopening but needs to get the basics right if it is to maintain the customer loyalty. The price of beers do not reflect the location - Hobsons Mild 2.75. The Shires bitter had lost something on the 3 mile journey from Madeley - or maybe it was the serving? Whilst welcoming the improvements the offering will have to be spot on to draw in custom from the likes of the Forresters Arms and the Cock.

The Pheasant Inn, Linley Brook

Visited the pub on a Saturday evening and found only a lonely and depressed pair of licensees. Cant help but think that the pub will be gone next time I pass.
This place defies all my logic in that it has offered good surroundings; value home cooked food and a choice, sometimes limited, of good value local beers. Perhaps it is that the landlord has to add to the package. Really should not be on the way out as it is so much better than many others that survive on Sky and lager.

The Anchor Inn, Madeley

Gone the way of all pubs with nothing to offer in the way of quality or value - CLOSED

Brewery Inn, Telford

In an area with intense competition for trade this pub has gone for food value as its main feature. It advertises a low cost breakfast (9am) and supplies low cost main meals in the evening (5 7.30pm). The pub closes at 9pm.
Beer is not high on the list of offerings, only one hand pump recently with an innocuous flat bitter. Location and surroundings are as stated very attractive though other establishments may offer a fuller package.

The Aqueduct Inn, Froncysyllte

As already stated the pub has lost its character in the make over.
We used to call when walking in the area and enjoy both the beer and the food. Now advertises cask ales and offered two 'major' beers. I chose Brains SA and received the worst pint of SA I have had in Wales. Left without finishing it and won't be going back. Pubs like this have to realise where quality and value are or they will add to the list of closures.
