Links Tavern, Liphook

I have had a meal here on 3 occasions in the past 2 months with friends and family and found the food to be very good. The Restaurant staff are very friendly and welcoming, always with a smile. Great to see the restaurant Manager wandering around checking on customer's satisfaction. I feel the bar staff consistently let the whole place down because the treat the customer as a 'must do'. They appear cold and unfriendly. I think the establishment might realise somewhere down the track that bar staff is a customer's 'first impression' and therefore ought to be a first priority. I will return but would like to be greeted by real bar staff and not machines masquarading as bar staff.

The Fox and Pelican, Grayshot

A really lovely pub seriously let down by the incumbent staff, both resturaunt and bar. These people lack the friendlieness required for a local pub, being cold and void of character (staff). The Restaurant service was dismal taking me 45 minutes to pay my bill and that is having to search out the waitress from the kitchen to get some attention, and even then I had to wait!! The staff appear to be illinformed and only there, because they have to be. This is the third and last time I have taken guests to the pub/restaurant hoping it was a one-off incident each time only to be embarrassed. The third time walking out with my guests without even having a beer. This is my local pub within 5 minutes walk but I will not go back until there are major people changes.

The Mill at Elstead, Elstead

I visited this pub for dinner about 3 weeks ago with my guests from Australia and had an excellent evening. We sat at the corner table for 6 in the bar area and was treated to wonderful service from the amazingly efficient New Zealand girl. An attentive and friendly girl.
To my dismay and disappointment, when I visited the pub last night with family (4), we were told quite bluntly that there was no table service for dinner at the same table and I would have to go to the bar to order. I was told if we took three paces to the right we would get table service. The casual nature of the table setting is its attraction so we stayed there. I have to say that the service attributed to us from the two gentlemen behind the bar was cold and unwelcoming to say the least. I felt that we had encroached upon their otherwise quiet night. Upon leaving the establishment I, and my guests, bid the staff a thank you and a good evening only to be answered with a nod and a grunt. Why on earth were we thanking these cretins? Well, because I am a gentleman and expect to be treated as such. But not here it seems.
Very Disappointed.
