The Anchor at Shapwick, Shapwick

Half of me doesn't want to write a great review for this one, as it may get so busy I would never be able to book a table again, but I can't help myself - lovely food, great menu and the nicest red wines! Great polite service - cannot fault it in anyway (apart from it's location - not close enough to my house)

Stour Inn, Blandford St Mary

Great shame the current landlord and lady are leaving as this is one of the best pubs in Blandford - better than most of the H&W pubs! They will be missed as all is good in this pub, has individuality, great food at good prices, nice drinks and really friendly - hope it lasts, but with H&W at the helm, don't hold out much hope!

The Dolphin, Blandford Forum

Would agree with the_wandering_barman - probebly the best pub in Blandford! Lovely atmosphere, good range of drinks at good prices - beats a brewery pub anyday!!

The Crown Hotel, Blandford Forum

Quite miss the older style cosy bar, and I have a feeling the new decor will go out of fashion quite quickly, but all in all ok. Not tried the food, as with other comments, it looks quite pricey for average food. Nice wines, and not had a problem with the service.

The Castle Inn, Corfe Castle

Great pub, great food, great service - and no, I don't work there!! Excellent effort made by all who do work there. Good old fashioned service!

The Scott Arms, Kingston

Drove through Kingston on a Saturday night and the place was empty! Carried on to other pubs in the area and they were full - this says quite a lot. With reference to the below comment written by a member of staff, there are a couple of them who are polite and a pleasure to be served by, but as with everything, there is always one or two who really let the side down with their lack of customer service skills, and lack of manners. The food is often of questionable quality, and the loos are often grubby (to put it politely). Being owned by a large company has done nothing for this pub! It has great views, but if I'm going to spend my hard earned cash on drinks for the family, I want more than good views!

Charlton Inn, Charlton Marshall

I can't imagine Hall and Woodhouse are proud of this one! I witnessed an older chap being told it was too late for a bit to eat as they stop serving at 9pm - it was 3 mins past according to the pub clock! And the chap was staying the night in the B&B, and travelled a long way! He wasn't missing much as the food is fairly poor quality, as is the service and the manners of the staff. Will probebly be flats in the not so distant future. Shame as it used to be an ok pub!

The Black Bear Hotel, Wareham

lovely pub, lots of rooms - seems to go on for miles - always good service

Wight Mouse Inn, Chale

First went there in the early eighties, and have seen it ruined and turned into another big brewery pub since. real shame, as used to be great. has lost it's individual identity - the same as anywhere else

The Spyglass Inn, Ventnor

great location - agree with other comments about poor food - everything microwaved, staff very off hand, and have to queue, bit like a conveyor belt. Had meal, served cold, yes, big portions but all cheap chips (or powder made mash). Profits very obviously more important than service - like the other post said, better pubs in the area
