The Fountain, New Malden

Utter dive. Avoid like the plague, unless you are actually in the advanced stages of having the plague, then you will fit right in. Hostile, smelly dump.

The Old Drill, Worcester Park

Now the HG Wells, Great pub, had 2 events there in the last few months, and the staff are excellent and keen to ensure your evening goes well. Will definitely be back and have friends now booking events there too.

The Crab Inn, Shanklin

went to The Crab last week, and it cannot be faulted really, the food was excellent, the beer was good (Goddards Special) and the service was absolutely top notch, really friendly staff made our visit a pleasure.

Will definately pop in again next time in in Shanklin

The Cricketers, Epsom

Great friendly pub, decent beers and food, fantastic location

The Spring Tavern, Ewell

Visited last Saturday for a spot of lunch with the family....first impressions is that its a good pub....how wrong first impressions can be.

The bint behind the bar had to be retold my order of drinks 5 times...which is some feat considering it only consisted of 4 drinks....

Then the food took an absolute age to arrive, and when it did it was poor.

Wont bother with this one again for a long while.

The Alwyne Castle, Islington

re-visited for a quick couple of pints on Friday, first time in about 2 years, still a great pub, very laid back relaxing place to drink.

8 Jun 2008 13:58

The Lord Palmerston, Holloway

Very good little boozer for pre-game drink....staff friendly....only gripe was there was no ale/bitter on tap when I went in today.

The Tollington, Holloway

As with the comment below, there is some very nice eye candy behind the bar, and in addition they are great at their job, even when its rammed you dont have to wait too long to get served.

Only thing i would question is why the sound isnt on for the football games?

17 Jan 2007 23:46

Phibbers, Islington

huge pub on two floors, great place for a pint before / after the game.

4 Nov 2006 21:19

The Coronet, Holloway

Tried it out Pre-Match....even though it was very full got served pretty quickly, which for a JDW is amazing....Try the Swan at Highbury Corner...they think Service is just something that starts a game of Tennis off...

9 Oct 2006 23:52

Henry Addington, Canary Wharf

Only been here on a Friday night after work....reasonable prices, and a cheesy disco that gets everyone up dancing when sloshed!

OK, its not great, but in Canary Wharf at least its not an AB1 or a Slug and rip-off.

9 Oct 2006 23:31

The Cat And Canary, Canary Wharf

Overpriced and Average...nothing to write home about.

9 Oct 2006 23:29

All Bar One, Canary Wharf

Typical AB1....namely overpriced and berift of any character or soul. Avoid.

9 Oct 2006 23:27

The Tollington, Holloway

Spent a couple of hours in here after the Arsenal V Villa game, nice clean airy pub, very modern.....no crisps though!

Staff were good when I went in, will probably become a regular on match days due to proximity to Ashburton Grove

25 Aug 2006 21:17

The Avenue, Stoneleigh

Yeah, Im gonna walk in a bar full of skinheaded fat blokes in chelsea shirts and tell the owner that their patrons are racially abusing passers by....get real.

As for hiding behind a message board, surely the point of this board is to give an opinion, im simply using the board, but your confrontational attitude of calling it 'hiding' is pretty much a good example of the average patron of this place.

The fact that south london coppers drink in there is hardly an advert is it mate, Stephen Lawrence ring a bell!

you have your opinion of it, fair enough, My opinion is just as valid, and in my opinion its frequented by racist scum, coppers or otherwise.

9 Jul 2006 20:41

Auberge, Waterloo

spent a nice evening in here, Staff are ok, didnt see anything other then lagers on tap though....

The gents was out of action, so the ladies was in use as a 'unisex' toilet.....que arguments over 'seat up or down' etc!

Very enjoyable atmosphere, will definately visit again.

6 Jul 2006 22:58

The Station, Stoneleigh

Yep....The pub has been shut for 28 days by the plod

licence is up for review.

28 Jun 2006 22:11

The Avenue, Stoneleigh

no no....calling passing women "Paki's" isnt intimidating at all ! well its obviously acceptable behaviour to you being the sort who drinks in there!

26 Jun 2006 20:51

The Avenue, Stoneleigh

for a perfect example of what im referring to, a few days ago a patron was calling a passing woman 'a paki'....lovely place for complete turds to drink.

13 Jun 2006 14:25

Pepper Saint Ontiod, Isle of Dogs

I wholeheartedly agree that the beer and Food are very good, probably the best in the area....its the Service that lets the place down, I wouldn't complain about it when its busy, but there are times i've been in there in the evenings (and its not busy) for a quick few after work, and thats what i want, a quick few, not a long wait while the bar staff chat away between themselves....again, if they were chatting to the customers i would not complain, thats part of service, but they are there to look after their customers, not chat away among themselves.

Im a customer, they are in a service industry, if they cannot get the service part right they really should work elsewhere.

5 Jun 2006 22:26

Pepper Saint Ontiod, Isle of Dogs

Wilf, you are obviously on the take or work in the Puzzle as you think its faultless, its clearly not as many different posters on here have testified to.

There is a difference between 'having a chat' and 'willfully ignoring punters while you chat'

The latter tends to annoy somewhat, as i dont go to a pub to stand waiting needlessly, i go to drink beer with friends....If the bar staff want to do the same rather then work i suggest they are in the wrong trade.

Now the Bombardier has gone as well....another Minus for the Puzzle

The Wellington, Waterloo

Spent a few hours in this pub tonight meeting a friend after work before going home

Had the Youngs Bitter which was fine, service was friendly and prompt enough despite being busy, found time flew by.

its a standard large railway pub, clean and cheerful enough, nice place for a few beers and a chat but probably not the first choice for a night out.

2 Jun 2006 00:06

The Out and Out, Morden

Great Place, by and far the best in Morden, although thats not saying much it should not distract from how good this place is.

Good Food, Good Beer and excellent service.

30 Mar 2006 19:03

The White Swan, Islington

Popped in after a game a few weeks back.....walked out 15 minutes later after still waiting to be served.

awful grotty place, with so many other good options within 5 minutes walk why on earth anyone but a spendthrift would bother with this place is beyond me.

30 Mar 2006 18:57

Pepper Saint Ontiod, Isle of Dogs

I would have thought that its even better business sense to keep ALL clientele happy, rather then drive off potential future regulars with awful service.

The Beer is good, and the food is great, and its a comfortable place for a beer and to watch the footie....all in all its a good pub, but the service by inexperienced bar staff who are more interested in yakking with each other then serving the beer really lets it down.

Its a pity because that aside its a good pub.

30 Mar 2006 18:37

The Avenue, Stoneleigh

If you are a Chavski fan then this is the place for you, park the pitbull outside and wonder at how a decent looking bar has been overrun with nothing but chavski fans, the schoolboy-esque Chavski Flag on the wall really says it all about this place. Avoid like the plague.

30 Mar 2006 18:27

Pepper Saint Ontiod, Isle of Dogs

Good Pub in general, let down by disinterested staff though.

Food is ok, Beer is good, however staff seem more interested in having a laugh then serving the beer.

8 Sep 2005 22:30

The White Swan, Islington

Its Cheap, Dirty, and really one to avoid.

8 Mar 2005 15:37

The Worcester Park, Worcester Park

Great Pub, good beer, very nice decor, went in last saturday and the barman ( an aussie bloke with a pony tail ) was very friendly, made sure my pint was a full pint as well !

will definately pop in again next time im passing.

13 Jan 2005 23:54

The Famous Cock Tavern, Islington

An ok pub, certainly a much cleaner and better option on the weatherspoons next door, unless you are a tightwad.

2 Jan 2005 23:52

White Hart, Wimbledon

OK place for a quick beer, nice enough without being anything special.

2 Jan 2005 23:20

The Emma Hamilton, Wimbledon Chase

Chav infested unfriendly place.

Bar Staff are ok, beer ok and general decor ok,
but very much a locals pub, unfortunately most of the locals are chavs.

Grab a bus along to the white hart instead.

2 Jan 2005 23:17

Jim Thompson's, Wimbledon

good food, the TV's seem out of place though.

Good friendly bar staff, the restaurant at the back is well worth a visit.

Beer pretty standard.

2 Jan 2005 23:13

The Wibbas Down Inn, Wimbledon

typical weatherspoons, namely cheap food and beer, however the bar staff seem oblivious to the 14 year olds drinking in there making the whole place a chav palace.

if you want cheap, then this is the place, and thats the only thing going for it.

2 Jan 2005 23:08

The Alwyne Castle, Islington

Great pub, clean, well decorated and bright.

2 Jan 2005 22:58

The Gunners, Highbury

great pub for a pint after the game, however massively overpriced, totally packed out for about an hour after any game but then starts to empty a little making it a nice place for a drink, although early closing seems a tad strange.

2 Jan 2005 22:54

The Cartoonist, Holborn

good bar staff, beer fine but overpriced, small and can be very overcrowded at times

2 Jan 2005 22:51

The Station, Stoneleigh

standard large railway pub, food good for the price, bar staff ok, decor needs a bit of refreshing

2 Jan 2005 22:46

The Crown and Sugarloaf, Bride's Lane

Nice, clean but small pub, selection a little limited, but staff are excellent and the atmosphere friendly.
