The Lord Clyde, Borough

Very nice traditional pub, had lunch here a couple of times recently, food home cooked and very good, particularly like the salt beef sandwich. 5 beers on, the TEA and Pride were both well kept. Worth seeking out.

Oh and @LessThanJake you are reviewing the wrong pub, you were in the Royal Oak on Tabard St where you would have had a pint of Harvey's Kiss and sat at the little table in the corner by the books. Food there is normally great too.

The George, London Bridge

I have mixed feelings about this pub, have visited many many times and the experience is always a bit hit and miss. If they have good staff on and the beer has been looked after this is a really nice pub with a historic frontage and a very nice courtyard where you can sit and enjoy the sunshine. In winter the front room of the bar is your best bet, they have real fires and a lovely atmosphere. However if the staff are slow as they often are and the beer is not good it can ruin the whole experience. The courtyard is often standing room only especially when a coachload of tourists come in. Never tried the food as it always looks pretty vile. Despite its size it doesn't have much seating inside so it can be a squeeze. Take a chance and try it especially if you have overseas vistors, they usually love it, if everything goes smoothly you'll have a good time there.

The Heeltap and Bumper, London Bridge

Recently refurbished (again), this place is a lot less cosy than it used to be and it wasn't too cosy then. Lots of light wood and steel surfaces in here. It has one ale on but it is 'smoothflowed' to within an inch of its life and served ice cold, reasonable selection of wine and the usual cold lagers. The only reason to go in here considering the number of good pubs in this area is if you are drinking lager in the George's courtyard next door and the queue for the bar is too long, this place is usually empty.

The Bunch of Grapes, London Bridge

Nice traditional Young's pub, always good beer nice food as well, in warm weather there is a little garden out the back that is very pleasant to sit in. Well worth a visit.

The Anchor, Southwark

This used to be such a nice pub, full of cosy little nooks and corners perfect to hole up in on a winter night. Now sadly it feels pretty plastic and unwelcoming, patrolled by grim security wearing headsets and microphones. Last time I went there service was slow beer just OK and the staff rude. May try it again in the summer as the outside seating by the river used to be excellent, just hope the service has improved as it always gets packed in the summer.

Utobeer, Borough Market

Pretty sure they don't have a license to drink on the premises as they had a sign up a few weeks ago stating they cannot open any botles for customers. Great selection of bottled beers though.

The Market Porter, Borough

Consistently a great pub for its range of ales on tap, the recent refurbishment hasn't really improved the place much but hasn't ruined it. Tends to be pretty packed most of the time now which is a real shame, but if you can get there early and bags a table settle in for the night and enjoy.

The Miller of Mansfield, Borough

Pretty decent pub, much improved since its refurbishment, mix of locals Guy's hospital staff and students, tends to be quiet during the week but gets busy on Friday nights. Usually has 2 ales on tap, a selection of wines and reasonable food, pool table in the back room, function room upsatirs and 2 other seating areas. A nice place to go in the summer as the tables outside catch the evening sun.

The Canterbury Arms, Peckham

My candidate for possibly the worst pub in London. After 20 years of drinking in the capital this is without a doubt the least appealing pub I have been into. It looks like a 50s estate pub, very scruffy on the outside worse on the inside with nasty lino floors and junk shop furniture. Devoid of any atmosphere (except a slightly hostile one), or character, you need to be really desperate for refreshment to come in here. No real beer, nasty mini bottles of wine, grumpy staff, morose customers and filthy toilets, this place really is a shocker.
