The Bell Inn, Nottingham

We go to The Bell frequently. We try other pubs and just end up back at The Bell. We went for a meal recently and the portions were nicely sized, not too big, not too small, and very good, too. Reasonably priced. What's not to love?

Great Northern, Langley Mill

Great Northern is under new management. They've a long way to go to get it back to better days but they seem to be doing okay. Stop by for a pint and this time of the year you can enjoy a fine garden next to the canal.

The Mill, Langley Mill

Supposedly The Mill is going to be converted into flats. Whatever they do with it, The Mill isn't a pub anymore.

The Sir John Borlase Warren, Nottingham

We stepped in here to get out of the cold and to have a pint...it felt more like a tea room than a pub. The Sunday crowd certainly had their pinkies in the air as they sipped from their cups. We left as soon as we'd drained our glasses. Not quite what I'd have expected given the location.

The Salutation Inn, Nottingham

Every time we visit here I want to explore but we are usually on a way to "somewhere else". Someday when we're not on our way to "anywhere else" maybe we can have a look around.

The Rose of England, Nottingham

It's close to Victoria Centre and you can sit down while you drink and they have some beer and I never want to go there again even though I think it looks pretty from the outside and I'm sure tourists stop in there and never want to go there again either and maybe never want to go to another pub as long as they live because they've been to this one because they're afraid all pubs will be like this.

The Mill, Langley Mill

Last time I was in Langley Mill this pub was closed. I don't know why. Maybe it's open now.

Hayloft, Giltbrook

It is called The Hayloft so I am going to assume it was once a barn. So it's got atmosphere and it's barn-like, but not overwhelmingly so. I always get Walkers Salt & Vinegar crisps along with my pint. There's just something nice about Walkers and a pint. After that, who needs another meal?

Sun Inn, Eastwood

You go into this pub and they have magazines to read! Of course the beer is good but the tabloids are just so gleefully awful that I enjoy reading them while having a pint. The parking is great and the staff is friendly.

Wellington Inn, Eastwood

We went to watch the first game of the World Cup here in 2006. We were the only customers in the place! Up the road is one of those wine bar looking pubs. It was packed. I don't know why The Wellington was so quiet. The beer was good. The last time I was in there it was to use the toilet late in the evening. The man at the door was very nice about it. There's really no parking around it but when you're having a night of drinking you don't need to drive anyway...and who wants to be designated driver?

Man In Space, Eastwood

Certainly not a touristy pub. It's a local with a lively atmosphere. I've always been there in the middle of the day. I'd be curious to see it at night.

Ye Olde Six Bells, Horley

Good food, less than friendly service, did I mention the good food? It really is good food and what a nice garden they have. Pity about the service. Not that they don't do the job but that they don't do the job with any sort of elan. But the food is good.

The Blue Bell, Nottingham

I was confusing this place with somewhere else entirely. I don't know how I could have confused this place with anywhere else. It's really kind of nondescript, which can't be said of many pubs in the area. The drink is okay, I guess, but the staff are generally less than cheerful. Easy to escape from, though.

The Bell Inn, Nottingham

We met a friend here once and have since visited many times. Great staff. Good beer. Very friendly.

Fellows Morton & Clayton Ltd, Nottingham

Nice place to sit and wait for your ride to pick you up after a bus or train trip. It doesn't have to be crowded for the staff to ignore you. I think it's their way of making everyone feel at home.

Great Northern, Langley Mill

Friendly local pub. Nice atmosphere. A good pub to meet friends on a Sunday afternoon.

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, Nottingham

An interesting pub but not one I'd go out of my way to visit again, unless someone else was paying!

Speakeasy, Nottingham

The food here was terrible but we were brought up to be polite so we didn't complain and tried to eat as much of it as we could. The drink is okay...just don't eat the food!

The Rescue Rooms, Nottingham

Things have certainly changed here since these other reviews, or is it just me? It seems like every time we go it just gets worse. Last time the beer was so bad we didn't even finish it. I really don't care to go back unless it's to see a show.

The Pit and Pendulum, Nottingham

Yes, the toilets are amusing. Yes, the burgers are good. Yes, the music is ecclectic. Yes, it has a creepy atmosphere. But the best part is the people. These are some of the most interesting people in Nottingham. The staff is always nice, even when the place is so packed we can't find a table right away...and we ALWAYS look for a vacant table on crowded nights.

The Old Angel Inn, Nottingham

Actually we only visited the place to see where my boyfriend fell down the stairs and hit his head but we stayed to people watch and have a pint. Quite nice there, actually. Bit quiet in the middle of the day. A friend from America brought his band over to play there but I wasn't around at the time. Sounds like they had an interesting evening.

The Hard Rock Cafe, Nottingham

Safe tourist destination. Nice toilets.

Canal House, Nottingham

The tables outside are great. On a warm, sunny day there's no better place to be. Beer, canal, and lots and lots of people to watch.

The Royal Children, Nottingham

A few visits back when we were here an American was sitting at the bar and he was quite loud. I am an American myself and felt the need to keep a low profile. On a later visit the same guy was there again, still just as loud. Our last visit there was a set of rules next to the bar about how Americans should behave while in the bar. The American was missing; have no idea where he was. I found it quite funny but still kept a low profile. Americans should learn to turn the volume down and keep most of their opinions to themselves and drink their beer quietly.

The Vat and Fiddle, Nottingham

A friend who lives near this pub invited us out for a Sunday evening. They were having a beer fest of sorts. I met the cat, almost. A homeless man took my boyfriends tobacco. We had the best seats in the house and some crisps for my only meal of the day, but who needs food when there are nice pubs like this? It was a great evening out. I hope our friend invites us back.

The Tap 'n' Tumbler, Nottingham

The Tap and Tumbler has to be my favorite in Nottingham. I always feel comfortable in there. The only downside is sometimes the bar is too deep in people and we have to go elsewhere. The staff is friendly. Makes me really appreciate the difference between a good staff and the people who work at other places.
