The Cittie of Yorke, Holborn

A gem. Fabulous interior, incredible value and lovely beer.

EllIOTTS, Purley

Shocking place. This pub always used to be a bit odd but appears to have gone truly downhill. I think they must bus the punters in from Mitcham or the like. Loud in there, pokey, nowhere to sit down, nearly all the clientele are fat middle aged blokes shouting at each other. Irredeemable.

The Rectory, Purley

Not a half-bad pub actually. Not my normal type of pub but it's airy and bright with a good choice at the bar and, when I was there, staff couldn't be more helpful. Chainy but they deliver pretty well

Foxley Hatch, Purley

I'd make this an above average Wetherspoons. Never known any problems in here, the punters keep themselves to themselves and get on with things. You probably get a better selection of guest beers in somewhere like The George but there's usually something that appeals. Can't knock the food at the prices either.

The Midday Sun, Chipstead

Went in here to watch the football and that's probably what this place is best served as. Tends to attract Mr and Mrs Chav and their expanding brood in the eating side as well as elements of the local Travelling Community. No incentive whatsoever to stay beyond the final whistle. Probably a pub that would appeal if you were about 17 which half of the occupants in the bar side seemed to be. Prices good though.

The Green Dragon, Croydon

Nothing but praise for this place. Great selection of beers with some you don't see that often, lovely music and a really pleasant atmosphere to it. Busy but you can't expect to have all that to yourself. Still baffles me why so many of the Croydon types go to the adjacent pubs and not this one but lets hope they continue to do so. Would agree with previous comment, just about Croydon's finest.

The Spanish Galleon, Greenwich

Struck me as a bit of a tourist trap in Greenwich really, bit overpriced as well. That said, can't fault the beer, the Spitfire was very good.
