The Wonston Arms, Sutton Scotney

Fantastic news(bit old now!) The Wonnie is back up and sprinting. Matthew Todd is the new Owner - Landlord. Back even better than ever, total overhaul, tip top, mostly evening opening times, longer at the weekends.

Good news; The Wonston may be saved, at my last Thursday visit news was out that it is being bought to be kept as a pub!
Rumours of the pub's demise were premature and a last minute saviour has emerged.
The closure scheduled for the 1st Feb. has been revoked and the pub is operating as normal whilst matters are finalised.
Fingers crossed, watch this space.

Haven't posted anything here for some YEARS it seems. Went to a Thursday night a couple of weeks ago - brilliant. The beer and company was as good as ever. Still not sure what the food situation is! Go in and ask!

I wonder where the picture I took last Sunday and uploaded Monday has gone?

Well I said I would report... Julie and James have had a bit of a tidy up, the firkins are now in a proper cellar, new electrics mean you don't dice with death near light fittings, and the log fire.. wow!
I think there might be food around lunchtime, but I've only made it for a few lively Thursday evenings - better than ever.

The changeover was on Monday, but I missed it! I hope I get a chance to say good-bye to Harry. It looks like I'm not going to make it for the Thursday evening Jamboree either.

I will report as and when. I have a feeling that even with the best marketing in the world the world is not going to beat a path, and the new folk know that!

The Bull's Head, Barnes

Wow what a liturgy of badness! And I never knew! I have been visiting the pub about once a month on a Thursday for years to see "Bill Posters Will be Band". Ok sometimes the staff are a bit slow, but never rude to me (even though I'm a Jazzer and probaly leave the door open!).
The back room was quite good being scruffy, except for the built in PA and lighting which was past its use by date. Bit too posh now! but still enjoy the old boys!
Poor old Dan seems to get a bit of stick - can't wait to cross walking sticks (or is it handbags at dawn?). Can't say I've noticed the price of a pint of mixed, it is always tip top anyway.
Good that the poor young lady who bought the flat next door has found alternative accomodation, I have decided not to rant on about her - poor dear.

A classic of its era - 1950s not 1650s - quiet and select in the day but very lively evenings! Four cask beers nearly all the time.
