The Narrow Boat, Skipton

Great selection of real and other ales (especially continental beers served in authentic glasses) and six British draft ciders. Ales incude Black Sheep, Copper Dragon and Taylor Landlord. Church pews are an interesting twist. Good service.

The Beer Engine, Skipton

Great microtubules. Five hand pumps. One blonde/pale ale and one dark beer, plus a still and fruit cider. The beers are stored in refrigerated cabinets behind the bar. Warm friendly atmosphere.

Costellos, Altrincham

I really like this place in Goose Green.. Really good selection of Ales all fresh and very tasty. Seven handpumps serving a variety of Dunham Massey beers starting from £2.00 a pint. Also still and fizzy Cider available.

Can get packed and slightly loud, but hey its popular so what can you expect.

Definitely recommend this place when out in Altrincham.

The Baltic Fleet, Liverpool

A proper old fashioned pub, with a open fire log burner, good drink, friendly welcoming staff and a warm atmosphere.

Wrapping Stout 5% chocolate and coffee 10/10

Starts to get busy around 4pm. Serves some good food including scouse (only 4.50!). Glad we went. Would recommend.

The Bull's Head, Mobberley

Good country pub. Cobbled frontage. Found 6 Cheshire beers, with individual tasting notes a nice touch. Services locally sourced food.

The Lord Eldon, Knutsford

Nice old pub with a lovely large bar area and open fires. Beer garden at the rear.

Good ales and food menu at reasonable prices. Best pub found in the area.

The Feathers Hotel, Ludlow

We found the Feathers great. Nice bar with a great open log fire!

Three beers (proudly promoted as all local) and really good. We tried the Hobsons Old Prickly first, and would say it was the best we'd had in Ludlow. We decided to also try the Ludlow Boiling Well, and again were impressed. Really well kept beer.

Service was friendly and it appears someone here is making an effort with the beer.

The Globe, Ludlow

Sadly not really a beer pub, more restaurant bar. One ale only, Hobsons Best, but good quality and in good shape.

The Church Inn, Ludlow

Extremely disappointed with our visit.

Whist central and easy to see the potential, it was sad to find the pub quite grotty and in need of attention.

Putting that aside, 8-10 beers looked promising. Trying Ludlow Boiling Well was a bad choice, as it was cloudy and in poor condition. The Wye Valley Bitter wasn't much better either.

Service was appallinglying slow and not very impressive. The experience was finally spoilt by the obviously very drunk, uncouth young guys by the bar who really made us feel uneasy.

The Old Harkers Arms, Chester

Nice canal side pub, with a traditional feel.

Good selection of ales (see blackboards for beers and notes). Food here was good, with efficient pleasant service.

The Brewery Tap, Chester

Great place. Reached from the street by a set of steps, the large room has stone floor, very high ceilings, and a fantastic atmosphere.

Some of the best ale we discovered in town. Really well kept, and good quality.

Bar staff very friendly and helpful.
