The Almond Bank, Livingston

This Wetherspoons may have peaked for Real Ale is 2008 but is now on a downward spiral. Guest beers are ALWAYS too cold, very often cloudy and rarely drinkable. At 2.05 its a dearer Wetherspons. Total lack of variety with Strathaven Ales now favourite. Management and staff are always changing and this is leading to declining standards. Food is mediocre. Watch out for the "queuing" systems that change daily depending on staff. Not in line or the wrong line, its the naughty corner for you and no food or drink.

The Sligachan Hotel, Sligachan

This pub is in a great location, looks good from the outside, but from the moment you walk through the door it's all downhill. Real Ales are in poor condition, strange seeing they are brewed next door, service is poor and prices very touristy!! Cold inside with the meagre fire being hogged by wet day walkers. Toilets stink and their central location allow this smell to spread. Get a mortgage for food.

The Pub At The Pier, Uig

No draught Real Ale again!! 5 empty handpumps with a very tacky a couple of bottles in a fridge, so no chance of enjoying. Staff seem uninterested except in the 2 or 3 locals who are either pissed or offensive, sometimes both. One bonus is "relatively" cheap prices for Skye. Take your own drink to Skye and let the locals enjoy their dive. They want your money but not you the person.

After my recent visit, it is likely to be my last. What price is value for money? Dire service at bar, wait here, wait there, no queing but no service either, how do you get served? Duty manager rushing around, achieving little, bar staff with "chips" on their shoulders, sorry Wetherspoons Inverness just ain't working. Add TOO COLD Real Ale dfoing a showcase festival(NOT a new problem), lack of availability of food menu, excessive unmarried children with their babies in buggies/chairs and the general "shithole" uncleared table effect, its not good. AVOID!!!

The Half Moon, Stepney Green

If using the Gents, take Wellies and some smell reducing equipment for mouth and nose. Always awash with piss, which spoils an otherwise good pub.

The Crosse Keys, Bank

What all City Wetherspoons should use as a role model. Excellent in all aspects!!

Foot Of The Walk, Leith

A locals Wetherspoons, but friendly. Excellent range of real ales. Food is good to. Service can vary from fantastic to dire, curious queing system in place which the diehards love, staff hate and causes confusion to most. Visit and enjoy.

The James Young, Bathgate

One of the worst Wetherspoons ever. One visit last year. NEVER be back.

Ivory Peg, Chelmsford

Potentially good spoons, but beer selection can be hit and mis in quality and variety.

The Hamilton Hall, Liverpool Street

Beer quality, service and decor all the same. At best, poor!!

Kings Highway, Inverness

Lodge rooms are better that Wigan and Birmigham, but hardly luxury. Staff in pub are helpful but appear to know little about what is happening in and around them. Food was good.

The Lord Wimborne, Poole

Food is generally poor and subject to very long waits, 40 mins for a simple starter, an hour for main course!! Duty manager was very offended by complaint and asked "what could he do about it" i.e NOTHING. Beers are mediocre and service generally poor. "Beer garden" is full of dirty tables, waste food and rubbish, not to mention copious seeaguls!!

The Liberty Bounds, Tower Hill

Did I visit a different pub?? Dec 07, Saturday Night, full of odd bods, Real was absolute rubbish and I drink most. Service, nearly by invitation. Maybe good with city slickers Mon to Fri, forget weekends.

The Shakespeare's Head, Holborn

Too busy to care. Real ales, poor availability and varying quality

Wetherspoons, Edinburgh Airport

Grossly overpriced. Real ales, rubbish. Not a great advert for JDs

3 Jul 2008 16:39

The Caledonian Ale House, Edinburgh

Closed in June 2008 for the trams!!

The Almond Bank, Livingston

An above average Wetherspoons. Real Ales are very drinkable and varied. Need more handpumps!! Food is generally good. Service is normally good. Possibly too many tables.
