The Surprise at Chelsea, Chelsea

We went last night to eat. The food is very good (even if the portions are not massive) and is about averagely priced. The beer is well kept (3 real ales normally). The decor seems to have used up the left over grey paint from the Front Page (Pigs Ear) and the Phene Arms however!

Definitely a gastro-pub rather than a boozer but OK nonetheless.

The Coopers Arms, Chelsea

The Coopers Arms has just reopened after a refurbishment. The toilets are now all downstairs and brand new. The garden has been redone and has better access. The inside has been cleaned up. There are now 6 handpumps with 2 guest ales (currently Butcombe bitter and Wandle) - all very well kept. Even the moose head has had a clean up!

The Phene Arms, Chelsea

Now reopened as the Phene. Beer is pricey and fizzy. cocktails are pricey but not bad. Garden outside is good if rather 'designer'. Menu looked good if pricey (you see recurring the theme here?)

Not my choice of local but you could do worse (e.g. Henry J Beans).

The Parrot, Canterbury

First class pints - great food - lovely ambience - great beer garden - you couldn't ask for more. This pub ticked every box for me. As I usually drink Youngs I tried both guest ales and they were superbly kept. This pub is well worth a visit.

Queens Larder, Bloomsbury

A great little find. Lovely pint (3 real ales available), clean, comfortable and quiet.

Recommended.

The Coopers Arms, Chelsea

They have finally cleaned this place up and redecorated it. Much improved and cleaner now. The little beer garden at the back is an oasis of tranquility. Beer is still first rate. Current staff very friendly. The menu has changed - more variety and the food looks good (I haven't tried it yet). The scruffy old bear has gone but the moose survives!

The Nags Head, Belgravia

Great pint of Adnams Broadside and good cider as well (NOT Strongbow!) Interesting curios inside. Not particularly disabled friendly though.

A gem of a pub - not one I would like to get too well known!

The Grouse and Claret, Belgravia

The best pint of Tanglefoot I've had in many a year. A clean, friendly pub which will definitely get a revisit or several.

The Surprise at Chelsea, Chelsea

A nice local pub - well kept beer (Adnam's and Fullers) and clean toilets!

Friendly punters - all in all a good find.

If you go here then take your own disinfectant. The toilets are a disgrace. I wouldn't dare eat here if they are a reflection of the hygiene of this place.

The Coopers Arms, Chelsea

They now have a small beer garden at the back. The beer is still the best I have tasted in the area and the food is first rate.

It could use a lick of paint however.
