The Bay Horse Inn, Cramlington

Have been twice (I always give them a second chance) had a disappointing steak the first time and last week, although it states food all day, kitchen was closed at 2.30pm due to 'problems' ? Noticed on the menu this time that if I order 'potato skins', for an EXTRA charge, I can have a dip with them. How kind! Who eats skins dry without a dip included? Bloomin cheek. Staff look bored and dirty glasses littered on outdoor unoccupied tables at front of pub. Wouldn't recommend it, wouldn't go again.

Brockwell Seam, Cramlington

This is my local pub now and is going under renovations at the minute, but everything still available. Bar area is fantastic if you like watching footie with screens and a fab atmosphere for big games. Lounge is very comfy. Great chef, food is excellent, (we've tried most things on their menu) drinks reasonable, loads of outside seating, smoking area. Tends to get kids daytime midweek and teatime weekends which is irritating.

The Bumper Castle, Wigginton

Just got taken over in the last few months and food and drinks excellent. Nice beer garden where you can have a smoke, smashing Sunday luches or midweek bar snacks. Decent class of customer - kids are always well behaved.

The Flying Legends, Clifton Moor

Absolutely dreadful place. Very 'under-the-arm'!! Screaming brats everywhere. Try the Bumper Castle down the road.

The Mitre, Clifton Moor

Brilliant little local pub, friendly fast staff, excellent food, very clean, plenty of parking, reasonable prices, decent smoking area.

Harkers, York

Was a very posh, trendy place to be seen when it opened a few years ago but now looks scruffy and in need of a facelift. Loud and clattery tiled/wooden floor, expensive drinks, no smoking facilities (just outside the premises).

Bar 38, York

No longer Bar 38, is renamed Revolution. Expensive drinks and loud and clattery but nice on a summer Sunday lunchtime when they have a live sax & guitar on the outdoor terrace. Ok during the day but mental at night when it's packed with young folk. Takes ages to get served sometimes (don't know about the food) loos are clean but badly lit.

Kennedy's, York

Fab and trendy bar, polite efficient staff and very clean ladies loo. Roof-top garden area handy for a smoke (no disabled access to this area) and tables & chairs outside the front to watch the world go by. Extensive wine list, good chef, has a basement area with live gigs midweek. Brilliant for popping in for a drink after shopping in the city at teatime, especially Christmas time. Can book the top floor for do's too. (I guess I rather like this pub!)
