The William Aylmer, Harlow

When I used to live in Harlow, this was my local (it was literally stumbling distance from my place!) and it was cheap and cheerful. My flatmate used to work behind the bar and still liked to the frequent the pub on his nights off. The food is great value - I recommend the fish and chips, and I used to go to the Curry Night on a Thursday; excellent deal! Drinks are cheap and the ladies loo is huuuuge - yes, you could have a boogie in here and then sit down and have a rest on the settee in there (novelty)!

The Proverbial, Harborne

A good place to watch the World Cup as there's a fun atmosphere; when England won their first game they played Vindaloo, Come On Eileen etc after the match which created a great atmosphere; a happy vibe. It can be a bit cramped in here and is full of students. I also didn't appreciate being ignored at the bat even though no-one else was waiting but when I was eventually served, the drinks were bargainous.

The Green Man, Harborne

I think of this as my 'Sunday afternoon' pub. It has a cosy, relaxed feel and is not as packed on a Sunday as it is on a Sat. night. I like the decor; nooks and crannies and lots of seats. The food is great too!

The Golden Cross, Harborne

I have a soft spot for this pub. The bar staff are smiley and friendly, and there is a good atmosphere in the pub: people keep going back so you soon recognise faces and it gets busy when there's a match on... Thursday night is karaoke night and the staff can sing! Drinks are cheap (1.20 for half a cider, 2 for a vodka and coke) and the food is tasty - and very reasonably priced! I feel very welcome here.
