Came here on Saturday. It had a very good atmosphere. Good mix of 30 somethings. Friendly bar staff. Cocktails were 6.50 to 7.00. Shooters 3.00. Very good dj playing 70's, 80's funk. Open until 4am on a Friday and Saturday so will definately be back.

The Crooked Chimney, Welwyn Garden City
This isn't really a pub as almost all patrons were having meals. We came with family for lunch and was told by them that it is the best in the area. Whilst there was nothing wrong with the food, it didn't make me want to go back. So I pity people who live around here if this is the best. Apart from the steak, which was quite good, everything else seemed to be pre-prepared and the coffee was the worst I have ever had - ever. Staff, however were very friendly and efficient and there are nice tables outside. But as you would expect with a family pub, there were a lot of children. Unfortunately, most were running around because there is nothing to keep them occupied. No play area or even colouring paper so if you decide to come with family be prepared and bring soemthing for them to play with while waiting for food.

Saturday was fairly busy but still got a booth. The food was reasonable and prices very good. Nice cider but found the lack of branded spirits some getting used to. Nice old fashioned pub though with efficient, friendly staff. Would definately go back.

Quiet again on a Saturday. Had the Club s/wich which was nice. They don't do deserts. Nice place to come if you actually want to have a conversation with your drink.

Came here on Saturday. Seemed a friendly enough place but was fairly quiet. Drinks prices were reasonable and it does serve platters of food but we didn't have any. Background music quite laid back / nu cool. Smoking area looked nice.

Great atmosphere on a busy Friday night. Nice, quirky pub but soft drinks are way overpriced. Recommended for beer drinkers.

The Sir John Oldcastle, Farringdon
Came late on a Saturday. The place was dead. The bar staff were quite friendly and you can't knock the prices. But it's really somewhere to come for drinks rather than atmosphere.

The Betsey Trotwood, Clerkenwell
Checking out the bars in the area and walked into this one. The bar staff were very friendly. There was a good selection of whiskey but judging by the quality, I suspect some don't get ordered too often. Prices were bit high but the convivial atmosphere made up for that. Will definately return.

Reply to fullbelly - what I mean is that there was music playing but not so loud that you can't hear yourself think. And the other patrons weren't the rowdy sort who shout over the top of each other. The pub when we went wasn't full but we got a nice seat and enjoyed the food. Have tried to go back since but quite often the bar is booked for private parties on a Saturday, which is the only night I can go, so haven't made it yet.
