Breakspear Arms, Harefield

This place is clinging on by its fingernails. Greed King are clearly waiting until curry sales outweigh everything else, after which it'll be sold (probably to the current tenants), and we'll have one less pub

The Swallow Street Bar, Piccadilly

On the Monopoly crawl you should take bottles, cans & hip flasks for consumption in Vine Street

The Chequers Inn, Pampisford

Rare beef ? I assume you mean "properly cooked beef" ? Visited this pub for the first time yesterday - fantastic barmaid !

The Mill, Cambridge

A decent glass of Broadside. I say "glass", because this pub seems incapable of serving a PINT of ale. It was pulled with a huge head, and when asked to top it up, the barman just held it in the general direction of the hand pump, rather than actually doing his job properly !

The Horniman at Hays, Southwark

Further to Mercurial's post....

I was the one who went back to complain. The member of staff was adamant that the beer was Bombardier. When I pointed out that (for starters) it was the wrong colour, she went off to consult "a manager". When she returned, we were issued with a refund.

Nice location, otherwise hopeless. Avoid.

The Flower Pot Hotel, Sunbury on Thames

6.3 ????

Did you walk in with your eyes shut ? Very good pint of Brakspear's and excellent food, but top marks for the bevy of gorgeous Eastern European bar staff.

The White Hart, Whitechapel

Visited this pub on a Saturday night in Feb 2007. Seems like a fairly laid-back place. Very friendly and very gorgeous Latvian barmaid....

The St Johns Tavern, Archway

The Wadworth 6X tasting notes on the brewery website describe a "delightful copper-coloured beer" with a "malty, fruity nose"

At no point does it mention that "6X is supposed to smell like old socks.", which is apparently what the bar staff in this pub have been told.

If someone tells you that their beer is off, at least have the decency to smell or taste it yourself. Half-wits...
