The Haystack, Canvey Island

Seeing as there have been no reviews for over 3 years I thought I'd pop one in. Now, there are not too many pubs in Canvey to chose from, but I would say that this is an OK pub. Pretty big and on the high street. Good choice of lager and spirits etc though from memory no real ales or much of a wine choice. Last time I went they closed the pub side fairly early on a Friday and shoved us into the "club" area which was a bit annoying.

Altogether an OK pub for a few beers. Bar staff are friendly enough and there is plenty of seating and a few sofa's etc.

The Pelton Arms, Greenwich

Love this pub. Great bar staff and locals, lots of entertainment, great range of Beers, spirits and Wine and a cool, quirky beer garden. Quality establishment.

The Plume of Feathers, Greenwich

Lovely pub, a little off the beat and track but worth popping in. Good selection of Beers, although I would say possibly a little on the pricey side. Really good atmosphere and friendly bar staff and locals.

Really comfortable pub, could while away a day in there happily. Menu looks good but didn't eat there. Will definitely head back.

The Builders Arms, Croydon

Place has been done up to a very good standard, now there are booths and chill out areas whereas before I did feel a little sparse. Food is a fairly good standard and a good range of Beers. They show all the sport and have a wicked Beer Garden. What more could you ask of your local?

The Builders Arms, Croydon

Nice pub, they've recently done the menu up and the food is pretty good.

Beer garden is big and very good in the summer

The Fire Station, Waterloo

How someone can compare this place to the hole in the wall is beyond me!?

This is a nice place, yes it's probably classed by most as a trendy bar and it's a little on the expensive side, but it's a cool place to sit (if you can) with your mates or missus and have some drinks. There is no blaring music and it doesn't get too rammed.

The hole in the wall however, is a dump.

We had a few of the small plates to share. Bread with dips, Nachos, Potato wedges and prawns and thought they were very good and you got a lot for your money.

The only thing I would say is that the service is pretty poor, there seem to be a lot of staff just roaming around not doing much whilst your waiting to get a drink.

The Poet Bar, Liverpool St

Nice place and good for watching sport as it's reasonably quiet, good food too.

The Half and Half, Croydon

I did really like this pub as it offered something different. But let's face it, it was a bit of a dive and could do with someone making it a bit more clean and comfortable.

Saying that, I hope it doesn't become a "trendy" bar and holds onto its charm.

The Glamorgan, Croydon

Very nice pub, got a bar area with a pool table, a lounge area, a dining area and a patio. Had a Tapa's style menu there which is good value and you get a hell of a lot of food.

Good staff, reasonable prices and a good atmosphere

The Half and Half, Croydon

Nice place, with a quality selection of Ales, but don't fear, their lager is good quality pilsner and they do often have some quality Ciders on offer. They know their stuff too and recommended a drink for my girlfriend, a cherry lager on draft!

The only negative is that there really are no creature comforts here and you can hardly breathe due to the smoke (there's no ventilation). Obviously that will be changing within a couple of months but would be nice if they made it a bit cosier.

The Crutched Friar, Tower Hill

I have to say I'm a little suprised by these comments. This pub is quite local to me and I've been there a few times. I think the service and food is good. I only have around an hour for lunch and I've never had to rush to finish my food
