Not sure when it happened but the pub has now reopened. The clientele are resolutely working class but that's not a bad thing given the relentless gentrification of the area.

The Oxford and Cambridge, Hammersmith

This pub was shut on 17th Feb 2006. Not boarded up, no closure notices, just shut.

The Ranelagh, Bounds Green

What really was one of the worst pubs in London has had a complete refurbishment and now is very sleek and stylish. Has Belgian and other beers on tap and also offers interesting food. The garden has been improved; a lot of decking has been added - maybe they should have put a bar in the garden, as most of the people were out there. Word of warning though: the floor has some unexpected uneven bits.
