The Royal Oak, Crewkerne

Characterful old pub (and landlord) with two real ales on, one a guest ale. Quizzes on Wednesdays and music on some evenings - publicised beforehand. Large beer garden. I like it a lot!

The King William Inn, Crewkerne

Good pub used by many social locals. Always has 2 or 3 real ales on in good condition as shows sport on good size screen.great for the rugby!

The Teign House Inn, Christow

This pub changed hands about a year ago having been closed for a while. The New landlord is the local cider maker and has ably rebuilt the clientelle body offering at least 4 real ales and good food. Camping is still available in the pub field by the river. A Comfortable and amenable place. Folk or similar Music occurs on some Sumdays.

The Artichoke, Christow

At last! freed from the yoke of an indifferent landlord the pub is now under new FREE HOUSE ownership. The new landlord Sam is a local lad keen for success. A refit of the interior has retained all the character of the ancient building blended with classy new furniture, even relaxing easy chairs. 3 handpumps of excellent ales and a new chef offers superb and enticing options with a twist for dining.

Bridford Inn, Bridford

A tucked away pub re-opened a year ago and hasn't looked back since. Plenty of space, good food, usually 3 or 4 real ales on and frequent music nights - blues jazz or folk. it even has a small grocery shop as the village doesnt have one otherwise.

Tree Inn, Stratton

Our Border Morris side danced here by request in May and what a joy the place is. Its an old 17thC Coaching inn and was the home of the last cornish giant, born here in 1610 - Anthony Payne, 7'4" and 38 stone at his death! Two bars, swish dining room and good Ales, and the landlord is a professional bagpipe player!

The Crown Inn, Lechlade

We stopped here as it has B&B units at the rear of the pub; small but good value accommodation. This appears to be the liveliest ie busiest pub in Lechlade town. Good atmosphere and ales, through the wacky girls serving breakfast need training.

The Teign House Inn, Christow

This pub has improved in the last two years since a new landlord came in. The food is good and the beer is excellent. Normally 3 local real ales are on, plus one as a changing guest ale. Just recently the partition to the dining area has been removed giving a more open aspect for diners and a bar to access. The pub now has a bit of an evening folk music session on the first wednesday of the month.

The Artichoke, Christow

This is my local and I am a real ale enthusiast and CAMRA member. The reviews are all sound except the commet on variable ale condition. Last year the existing landlord finally got over his condition problems and installed cooler jackets to the in- bar stillage. The Bass is by handpump from the cellar and both this and the Otter are jolly good stuff now; thats why I drink there four days a week; now retired don't you know.
Cheers

The Water Witch, Lancaster

just visited and can confirm generally favourable comments. Sadly it seems to be going down the yuppie student route but lots of good ales on and sitting outside by the canal is decidedly nicer than inside for character. The Polish? maid was happy to remove the sparkler and was extremely good looking toboot. What else is needed to make you go back? Aha, lower prices!

The Newfield Inn, Seathwaite

Reviewer Pete: He's not wrong ye naw. It's a great walkers pub serving usually 4 local real ales, albeit through those unnecessary sparklers. A good pub all round, - beer, food, space, character, service. And a porch to hang your wet gear thrown in!

The Blue Anchor Inn, Teignmouth

A real locals pub, (both with character) which also welcomes visiters. For 6 real ales in excellent condition this is unquestionabley the best pub in Teignmouth. It's small and cosy(log fire in winter)with a pool table in one half of the bar. Can be busy Friday/Saturday nights but excellent and friendly at other times. The occasional visiting european sailer gives the place a rare cosmopolitan feel. As a real pub it doesn't do food beyond that old time rarity the cheese/ham sarny under a cover.

The Teign House Inn, Christow

This pub has become my local. Under a new landlord since last year it has got much better in all ways. The landlord and wife are the most friendly and agreeable one could meet. Usually Three Ales and one changing guest ale kept in lovingly good condition; a wide range of good food, inc some good veggie dishes. A beer garden with adjacent field running down to the river Teign. Mini Beer festivals on occasion and near a bus route from Exeter.

The Lord Nelson, Southwold

The best pub in Southwold, it is important to note that it is the only one to offer the whole Adnams range. Pleasant, welcoming and adorned with interesting memorabilia its an historic place. top marks
