The Well, Muswell Hill

Has yet again reopened as another gourmet restaurant, for which Eggs Benedict at breakfast will set you back 7.65. Doubt it will ever return as a boozer. Bring back the Well!

Keenan's, Muswell Hill

Went back again for a few beers over Christmas. Guinness was very good, and as you'd expect here was poured well. Can't comment on ales but most people seemed to be on lager or Guinness so Status Baby's point is a valid one.

The Orange Tree, Friern Barnet

Has been closed down now for a number of weeks. Not sure if it's permanent, but I would assume so. With this pub, The Triumph and The Duck all having closed down in the past few years the pub count in Friern Barnet is now pitiful. You have to feel sorry for the locals.

The Dick Turpin, East Finchley

I saw on the CAMRA website that this pub closed in Aug 2010. Used to use it a couple of decades ago when a soxth former at a local school. Had some good evenings there!

The Finchley Tavern, North Finchley

Went in here for the first time in several years for a few pints before a comedy night at the Arts Depot over the road. The pub was quite busy and now seemed to be under different management than my last visit. They seem to have kept on the same friendly atmosphere and my two beers were fine and relatively cheap for the area. I will return again.

Went here for Sunday lunch last Sunday. It's not really a restaurant as there were only two items on the menu - either Roast Beef or traditional Irish bacon and cabbage. Well there was a third choice, you could have a little bit of both (which turned out to be a lot of both!)

Food was excellent and only 32 for four people.

Staff were very efficient and friendly. Sampled the Fosters which was decent and the Guinness which was excellent.

As you'd expect by the food it's a very Irish pub which also had several large screens showing rubgy and horseracing.

I'll definately be back again.

The Black Bull, Whetstone

Due to close at the end of March I believe.

The Griffin, Whetstone

The Griffin is the best pub in N20 bar none. Ive lost count of the number of enjoyable days and evenings Ive spent in there. I cant agree with the negative staff comments as Ive always found all of the staff (including the barmaid referred to negatively below) to be very friendly and helpful. For example during the summer the fridges werent working and it was never any hassle to get bottled lager chilled in buckets of ice.

As well as the usual choice of beers (Fosters, Kronenburg, Guinness etc) they also have a selection of bottled Polish beers which I can heartily recommend.

The food is also of a high standard and if you are looking to embark on a full days drinking then the all day breakfast will keep you going for a long time!
