Buck and Bell, Long Itchington

Visited this pub during the festive period after reading it's review in the Warwickshire Food and Drinks Guide 2012. It did not disappoint.

The pub itself has a great atmosphere and is beautifully restored. We dined in a cosy book lined room with a well tended fire called The Snug. Although the pub itself was busy at the time, the service was great. We were well looked after by a lovely Australian lad. The young team displayed good knowledge of the menu when we asked. (Apparently many items on the menu are locally sourced).

Our meal was ample and delicious. Try the 'deli board' for starters - it is amazing. We will be back!

The Rose Inn, Willoughby

This pub was listed in the Warwickshire Food & Drink Guide and while driving nearby on Boxing Day we decided to drop in for some lunch. A special menu was being offered for the day and they were fully booked, but as we had arrived rather early we were kindly offered a table and the choice of the set menu or the roast.

We chose the roast and the meal was absolutely divine with roast beef that melted in your mouth, crisp and tasty vegetables and scrumptious roast potatoes. The service was friendly and pleasant, the cost reasonable and the decor snug and cosy. We were most impressed.

The Snakecatcher, Brockenhurst

This pub has recently had a makeover, but for the money spent on it, they could have put aside a little for staff training. Two young ladies behind the bar with not an ounce of customer service or bar knowledge between them! Not exactly welcoming and then there were the meals... very ordinary indeed, unappealing in both presentation and taste. T

The pub itself lacks atmosphere and there is obviously a lot of work to be done, to bring the establishment up to the standard of its shiny new look. Hey guys, its not all about how its "looks". Invest some time and money in staff training and a new cook.

Rose and Crown, Brockenhurst

Just a big barn to eat in! This place has absolutely no atmosphere and the staff need a BIG lesson in customer service. We visited for the "traditional Sunday carvery" one Sunday evening, only to find that the food on offer had been sitting there since lunchtime and it is left out until it is all finished. Not the most appealing or hygienic way to serve food. Give it a miss.

Chequers, Leominster

Visited this pub early in November. A beautiful "Black and White" building. Happy and friendly staff and a terrfic menu! Now THESE people really know how to make a tourist feel welcome! Thankyou.

The Three Horseshoes, Leominster

What a disappointment! Visted this gorgeous looking pub on a Thursday evening in early November for a drink and a meal. The surly barlady had to "phone the landlady" to enquire if there was food on that night. It wasn't, I was told rather sullenly and the local Italian restaurant was recommended rather sarcastically. It was a very different story over at The Chequers!
