The Belper Arms, Newton Burgoland

Really friendly staff, welcoming and warm. Menu varied and portions EXTREMELY generous - good pub food, I always go home sated and happy.

The Morgan Arms, Mile End

Nice breath of fresh air into the area once it re-opened but I avoid it now.. far far far too expensive. Ridiculous. There are more accessible pubs in the area which have more of an atmosphere.
Haven't tried the food - completely put off by the prices!

The Woolpack, London Bridge

Reasonably priced food on a street with several overpriced eateries. The Souvlaki lamb is top, generous and shareable for lunch. I can imagine it's very pleasant in the summer months.

The Ramblers Rest, Chipstead

I came here for lunch in March and had a lovely meal.

We returned on a Saturday night and there was a lovely ambience, cosy feel and good atmosphere. There was a family with screaming kids who fortunately left soon after we arrived, thank goodness. This time the food was less good than last time, although we had a nice evening overall.

Firstly, two dishes had run out (but it was only 7pm, so that was surprising) which members of our party had wanted. Secondly one of us ordered lamb which was pretty much raw and had to be returned. In their favour they apologised and offered that member a free coffee. It was interesting to note that the couple on the table behind had a fairly negative experience, returning their food to the kitchen and I could overhear them complaining to the ?manager later about how awful the food had been. The response was very courteous though, which is reassuring. I did overhear that there are "changes" occurring at the moment, a new chef perhaps? Hopefully once everything's settled things will improve...
