The Sportsman, Seasalter

I had to laugh, when I saw this place come up. Sorry, but The Sportsman, is well and truly up it's own backside. How it ever got a michelin star is beyond me...Some people must be easily pleased with average food and sub-standard service.

The Ball and Wicket, Heath End

Hi scorpiondragon, i wouldn't worry too much about what guv2 say's. I've just read his previous postings and 'wanker' seems to be his prefered choice of word. He doesn't come across as very intelligent. In fact, his favourite word is probably the best coin of phrase to sum him up...!

Yes, it would be nice if you and the landlord could shake hands on this matter. As you have offered to bury the hatchet (and not in his head) it would be interesting to see whay his response is...? Anyway, all the best.

The Ball and Wicket, Heath End

I'm a fairly new contributor to BITE and read the comments on the live version daily. Even at night. Yes, you could say I'm addicted...! I just think it's really sad that people have to resort to childish rants on here. I also run my own business, but I'm not in the pub trade. I kind of know where both the landlord and the customer are coming from (I think).

You both know your trying to get a reaction from each other, and there is obviously a problem here. I was brought up to sort out such grievances like men and not act like a couple of school girls. Also, guv2, how do you know someone is a complete wanker if you've never met them...? Your hardly a good advertisement for your profession if that's your attitude.

The New Flying Horse, Wye

A very good, underrated pub. Went recently for lunch and the food was very good. It's a Shepherd Neame pub, but the ales are kept really well, especially the pint of Whistable that I had.

Go see for yourself. I highly recommend this pub.

The Nags Head, Belgravia

Went here recently and found the place to be ok. Service was friendly enough, but don't use your mobile or you'll be jumped on. All in all, my pint of Adnams was nothing special and the place was small and cluttered up too much for my liking. That said, the landlord Kevin Moran thanked us for our patronage on leaving. Worth a visit if in the area.

De Hems, Soho

I like De Hems. Been here many times with my most recent visit about eight days ago. They have a decent selection of Beer, mostly in bottles and a good range of lagers, if you like that sort of thing. Personally, I only come in for a couple of pints of Fruli (strawberry beer), which is very girly, I know, but the wife likes it and we drink it together. Mind you, fruli costs 4.10 pint so it's not cheap, but where is cheap in central London...?

The Five Bells, East Brabourne

A good pub with a very good selection of local brewed real ales and ciders. Also, a good selection of wines available. Food is ok and nothing special, in my opinion.

My only negative would be that they always have two open fires going even if it's a hot sunny day. Very bizarre. It's a bit out of the way but well worth the effort to find.

The Tiger Inn, Stowting

This is a cracking pub, with a good selection of real ale, which is well kept. However, on my most recent visit it was the Biddenden cider, which really turned my head...literally...! at 8% volume, don't have more than two pints.

The Wheel Inn, Ashford

I've visited this pub on a couple of occassions and found it very pleasant. Foods not bad either. Decent kept real ale, but limited to Shepherd Neame. Friendly bar staff. I look forward to going back.

The Harp, Covent Garden

Went to The Harp last sunday (24th July). I had two pints of wandle, which were both very good. They have eight hand pumps at the Harp and the staff know what customer service is all about. Highly recommended.
