The White Swan Hotel, Hunmanby

Still a proper pub, real log fire, no telly, no juke box although a selection of non-intrusive music is often playing, but usually drowned out by the lively chatter. Very quiet early on, becomes livelier but not crowded later. Head and shoulders above any other pub in this busy village, the staff & regulars are very welcoming and the place is spotless.
The only downside is "smoothflow" bitters.
If you eat here, you had better be hungry!

They do B&B too - I stayed here for a week, and would certainly stay there again if in the area.

The Bell, High Wycombe

A quick comment to clear things up!

After talking to a few people, and seeing the anonymous comment recently added, I think my previous entry on here has been mis-understood; When I refer to beer as "...a bit of dirty water with some sugar thrown in..." it is not intended as a comment on the quality of the beer in The Bell, but a light-hearted description of beer in general. It wasn't the brightest description I could have used, obviously!

My only grumble was, (and is), the pricing, in which case I believe that "Anonymous" DOES agree with my comments!

Despite the prices, it still remains the best pub in town in my opinion.

Apologies for any confusion caused / offence taken, as none was intended.

The Green Man, Flackwell Heath

The pub was very quiet during our visit, but I get the impression that it gets lively at times; some of the notices around the place would indicate that they cater for quite a young market. Bar staff - very up-front and friendly, and the beer is well kept.

The Old Imperial Hotel, Youghal

Lively old fashioned Hotel / Pub. The ground floor is given over to three bars (in fact it is only one, but divided into two separate adjoining rooms). The front bar is a general public bar, the back bar is where everybody goes to shout at the horse racing on the telly! The selection of drinks is pretty much what you find in every pub in this area, Murphy's, Guinness, usual array of lagers and ciders, all very well presented. Food is plentiful, cheap, and above all tasty! The landlord could never in this world be anything other than a pub landlord - you only have to look at him to see what I mean. Staff - great, prices and service, ditto.

Have also stayed overnight, the rooms are spacious, spotless and comfortable, really good value for money.

The Bell, High Wycombe

All the above holds true still, but the prices are becoming intolerable - it's beer, slightly mucky water with some sugar chucked in, not the elixir of life!

The Beaconsfield Arms, High Wycombe

Getting trashier by the week - it's like an audition for the Tricia show is being held there; Kids all over the place whilst their parents smoke, eff and blind, and generally ignore what the children are up too. No problem with kids in pubs - but not pubs full of smoke and pissed football fans, and not all day! (When do they get fed, played with or rested)?
