The Blue Boar, Wantage

Recently visited Wantage for the first time as we were attending a family wedding. Arrived early afternoon after the drive up and needing a bite to eat and a pint struggled to find anywhere still serving food. Ended up in this place and ordered a burger and a pint, but left without finishing either - says it all really! The place seemed to be frequented by some interesting characters, all looking like they'd been let out on day-release from somewhere. A totally uncomfortable and hopefully forgettable experience!

The Royal Oak, Rusper

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! A fantastic rural and rustic country pub, with an exceptional range of local ales and a cosy and enchanting atmosphere. An absolute pleasure to visit and always incredibly difficult to leave. A little gem that deserves all of the awards and praise it recieves.

The Fox and Goose Inn, Parracombe

A wonderful, quirky, english pub. A good selection of real ales, including local Exmoor variaties, but it's the food that makes a visit to this little gem of a pub worthwhile. The roast lamb in mint gravy is something to savour and the roast potatoes are to die for. The menu has something for everyone, there's a good choice for both meat and fish lovers and the West country cheese board is a must if you've got the room. Excellent!!!

The Hare and Hounds, Sway

Spend a lot of time in the New Forest and the Hare and Hounds never fails to deliver. It's everything a pub in the forest should be, many others could learn a thing or two. Lovely and friendly atmosphere with locals and tourists drinking great beer and enjoying fabulous food. A great destination for lunch or an evening meal. A wonderful pub!

The Rising Sun, Horsham

Always head the the Rising Sun for a pint after work on a friday. Badger ales, so expect usual choice, Badger, Tangle Foot and seasonal offering. Has two bar areas, one for the quiter drinker, with open fire next to restaurant, the other for the darts players. Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and have a great group of regulars proping up the bar. Would definitely recommend a pint and a sandwich here.

The Black Jug, Horsham

Often head to the Black Jug for a meal after a visit to the cinema or theatre and the food is usually excellent. This is made all the better by their attempt to make it a venue for the more mature on friday and saturday evenings. You can enjoy a great pint (several guest ales, Harveys always a winner though) and a lovely meal, in a relaxed but buzzing atmosphere. You're more likely to hear the sound of chinking wine bottles than alcopops! A refreshing change to the usual town pub, no loud music, just people enjoying themselves.

The Old George Inn, High Bickington

A pub as it was 50 years ago. Full of happy, chatty locals, in a wonderful community, with a thriving social scene. This is the sort of place we must cherish, a true english pub. Proper ales, proper food and proper people! A real gem!

The Plough & Attic Rooms, Rusper

Everything a country pub should be. Full of old world charm, low beams, open fires, great beer, friendly staff and superb food. Fed up of chain restaurants in town and are looking for something different and special?, Well if you live in Horsham or the surrounding area, book yourself a cab and head to Rusper for a meal one evening, you won't be dissapointed and you can get a decent pint too.
