Gordon Bennnett bar + kitchen, Surbiton

Agree with most of the points made. The food and wine has been good everytime I have been in, especially the burgers. The one thing that lets it down is the owner. He has a very condesending manner and to make things worse talks down to his staff like they are pieces of dirt in front of customers...??!! For me the staff are efficent and friendly, more so than the Rubicon up the road. If you pay a visit just try and avoid the owner serving you!!! Don't worry you'll know him when you see him!

The Red Cow, Richmond

Visited this place for the first time a couple of weeks ago and was very pleasantly surprised. Staff were excellent and the locals were friendly. If you want to escape the endless ponce and ruggerfied centre of Richmond, then this place is your answer. Top marks.

The Ferry Tap, South Queensferry

One of the most smokiest pubs I have been in. (Won't be a problem come Mar 2006!!) Nevertheless this place has a nice feel about it. Good beer and homemade food of the highest order!!! Best pub in the town by a long stretch.

The Lamb, Surbiton

JB - I am told that this place will continue as a pub. Whether to go back or not will very much depend on who takes over!!!

The Green Man, Fitzrovia

I swear to you that this place has the best pint of Guinness in the Fitzrovia area. Landlord who is a drinker of the Black Stuff himself looks after it as it should be. Nice to see someone does for a change!

The Royal Standard, Wandsworth

Drank quite a bit in here during the summmer. Best pub in the area with a very unpretentious clientelle compared to the types you get in The Alma and The East Hill. All sports shown and pleasant bar staff. Good thing is that you can order your favourite takeaway and eat it in the pub, condiments included!!! Only downside is that it is a tad pricey.

The East Hill, Wandsworth

Nice enough bar inside with a decent food menu. But nearly fell over when asked for 3.90 for a bottle of Magners!!!! Talk about daylight robbery and all that! Full of the usual rugger bugger lot for that area. Worth a look though.

The Old Coffee House, Soho

There the other night and the guy behind the bar was nothing short of hopeless. Off the beat and track though which makes it a good venue if you want to avoid all the other dross.

The Princess of Wales, Charing Cross

OK boozer for the centre of town. It is a bit cramped and not ideal if there is a crowd of you. Pies are legendary...Worth going in if only for that!
