The Commercial Hotel, Gowerton

Small, friendly, village local with excellent Brains beer. Great for a quiet pint in the week but busy at weekends.

Zero Degrees, Blackheath

A small selection of very good beer, all brewed on site. The pilsner is a bit gassy but the Pale Ale is excellent and the food is also really good. Fit barmaids too!

The Wig, Swansea

A great pub with good food and a decent pint.

The White Rose, Mumbles

A great pub and the traditional starting point for the infamous Mumbles Mile pub crawl. Well worth a visit...particularly on New Year's Eve.

Westbourne Hotel, Swansea

Could be an excellent little pub but lacks atmosphere.

Vivian, Sketty

A great little pub with good food, friendly staff and excellent Brains beer.

The Uplands Tavern, Swansea

Good beer and live music most nights. Lots of students but still worth a visit.

Ty Gwyn Mawr, Gowerton

Could be very nice...if you got rid of the staff, the locals and gutted the place. Far easier to take the short walk to the excellent Commercial Hotel.

Spinning Wheel, Sketty

A 1960s monstrosity in the middle of a council estate. Surprised it gets a mention at all.

Smokin' Dog, Swansea

Small, cheap (especially if you are a student) with a nice atmosphere. The beer's not great though.

The Reverend James, Lougher

An excellent little local. Brains pub so the beer is excellent and the food's not bad either.

Potters Wheel, Swansea

Wetherspoons, and not a very good one.

Oceana, Swansea

Dump. Beer is awful and at weekends it's full of teenagers getting pissed up on cheap booze offers before going to the equally bad selection of nightclubs upstairs.

The No Sign Wine Bar, Swansea

A poky old bar once frequented by Swansea's most famous son, the No Sign is the only place on Wind Street worth making a special visit. Good beer, great food, friendly staff and a fine selection of wine. There are also two more modern bars behind and below the main pub for later in the evening.

The Kingsbridge, Gorseinon

A bit of a dump but a good pint and full of friendly locals

Eli Jenkins, Swansea

Conveniently located in the city centre this is an excellent pub for 'bloke shopping' ie pint-shop-pint-shop-pint, pint-shop etc

The Chicago Rock Cafe, Swansea

Cheesy and not in an ironic sense. The beer really is awful and you can't move for pissed up middle aged slappers with fat arses. One to avoid!

9 Feb 2006 19:33

The Bank Statement, Swansea

Used to be quite nice as Weatherspoons go but, like most of Wind Street, is best avoided, particularly at the weekend.

Reflex 80s Bar, Swansea

Overcrowded, dingy and usually full of slappers. A great place for a night out if you enjoy getting your head kicked in by a pissed up valley boy. Don't bother!

The Bryn y Mor Hotel, Brynmill

The Bryn has had many incarnations and in it's present state it's a bit too student orientated chain bar for my tastes. However, there a couple of big screen TVs and it's a great place for watching the rugby, particularly Wales or Ospreys matches.
