The Hole in the Wall, Long Eaton
Has the best beer selection in Long Eaton, usually 5 or 6 ales on. A locals pub with lots of regulars in the bar. Has a quiter lounge for those that prefer a more sober atmosphere.

Terrible disco going on here when we visited. Beer was served far too cold and really expensive. 7.40 for two pints of ale - 3.70 a pint that's the most I've paid anywhere, including London. Used to be much better.

The beer selection is great and the quality superb. The building has a nice pub feel.

Very quiet for a friday night and the beer choice not very exciting Spitfire and Bombardier. Good old's man's pub. The polished steel mirror in the gents suggests that there may have been a livelier crowd in there several decades ago.

Best pub in Long Eaton at the moment. Went in Friday night, there was a great atmosphere and the beer was in good form. And at 2.50 a pint cheaper than some. Keep up the good work.

Good locals pub with four hand pumps dispensing real ale. Landlord knows his beer and his locals so there is usually something palatable on.

The Charles Dickens, Southwark
Excellent boozer. Was in late last night and had a couple of good pints Weltons Horsham Ale and a Nethergate Mild. Just how a London pub should be.

Bar staff seem disinterested in provided any sort of customer service.
Adnams Broadside not a patch of that served in Southwold.
Interesting interior.

A real pub serving Sam Smiths at 1.90/pint - got to be the cheapest pint outside a Weatherspoons.

They had Wadsworth 6X on yesterday alongside the the usual Everards. Popped in for a quick one while waiting for a train.

The Grainstore Brewery, Oakham
Top quality ales brewed on site. Very close to the trains station, so jump off the train and get the next one an hour later. Unfortunately the prices have gone up and are not as shown in the picture above.

Further to my last comment I see that Out of the Vaults has closed so try the new "The Pub" just along the street at 12b New Walk, LE1 6TF with 15 handpumps.

I visited this pub a few weeks ago in search of real ale. There are three hand pumps, but at the time of my visit there was only one hand pump. This had Grainstore's Ten Fifty ale. After I had been served I noticed that the beer was cloudy, when I challenged the bar staff over this they said it was supposed to be cloudy, I was a bit dubious about this but accepted it. Today I visited the Grainstore Brewery and had some Ten Fifty there and it was crystal clear and when I spoke to the bar staff there I was told that it was NOT meant to vbe cloudy. Therefore it is clear that the Flores are more interested in their profits rather than the quality of their ales. I'd recommend trying Out of the Vaults which is just up the road - if it's open>

Had a few pints in here last night. There was Harvey's Sussex, London Pride, Landlord, Abbot Ale and Exmoor Gold. Beer was well kept, maybe served a little cool. The pub itself is spacious but in need of a refresh.

The Lord John Russell, Russell Square
Had a pint of Hydes in there last night. The quality of the ale was disappointing, but the pub environment was good.

The Betjeman Arms, St Pancras International Station
A good pub as a station boozer. Ale is kept reasonably well.

More of a locals pub, but served a well kept pint. Wouldn't want to take a large group in there, but great for crawling south from Kings Cross

The King Charles I, Kings Cross
Excellent little boozer, with the before unknown Brodies ales. My colleague had the stout which was served out of the barrel at the back of the bar. He thought it was excellent, but at 7% I thought it a bit dangerous. Pub let down by the toilets.

As well as the usual Fullers they had Castle Rock on, but not as good as in Nottingham. Also 3.20 a pint.

It's like stepping into someone's living room. Had a pint of Hobgoblin last night, other beers not too exciting - IPA and Youngs.

The Triple Crown Inn, Richmond
Had some fine Twickenham Ales here last night. Excellent hospitality from the Landlord. Pity about the music, which lost it a point,

The Twitchel Inn, Long Eaton
Worth a visit if visiting Long Eatons real ale pubs, especially for the great value food.
The Stumble Inn and Hole in the Wall are much better in most other respects.
