The Thai Terrace, Guildford

Fine views over town if you come to this Thai restaurant and Thai waitressses have far better manners than the English.

Fahrenheit 55, Guildford

Too cramped and uncomfortable to be here for long. Joined onto the Tudor Lounge. Did I spot a bottle of pride in the fridge?

23 Dec 2009 14:11

Farriers, Guildford

Back as Three Pigeons.

23 Dec 2009 14:11

The Royal Oak, Guildford

If the staff could cheer up this would be a great pub. It has everything required such as a fine ale selection, as well as being situated on a graveyard and selling good food. Darts board as well which is rare these days.

The Robin Hood, Guildford

Bit of a locals, but does plenty of music at the weekend. Landlord is crazy guy with loads of hair.

23 Dec 2009 14:09

Rogues Wine Bar, Guildford

Good pint of T.E.A.

23 Dec 2009 14:09

The Guildford Hotel, Guildford

All closed, this is ashame as it was best place to watch sport.

23 Dec 2009 14:08

Auberge, Guildford

The most outrageous beer prices in town! Outrageous.

23 Dec 2009 14:08

The Albany, Guildford

2 Real ales on - somewhat dull and plastic gastro pub.

23 Dec 2009 14:08

Bar 29, Guildford

Most popular restaurant in town! Awful place.

23 Dec 2009 14:06

Players Lounge, Guildford

Owned by Michael Harper under the name Casino!

23 Dec 2009 13:58

Flares, Guildford

Get down in your yellow shorts and wear a red nose and dance the night away to the Scissor Sisters. Really do, if you're mad.

23 Dec 2009 13:58

The Bell Inn, Guildford

Indian restaurant still.

23 Dec 2009 13:57

Bar Med, Guildford

Lets hope this goes the way of Yates down the road. Some of the worst lager i've ever sampled and i've sampled some.

23 Dec 2009 13:57

The Rising Sun, Reading

All gone now. It was one of Readings best music venues and actually had a decent atmosphere. It also served real ale on a regular basis.

23 Dec 2009 13:54

Yates's, Reading

Depressing staff and this place really reminds me of a morgue which is starting to turn to dust.

23 Dec 2009 13:54

The Pitcher and Piano, Reading

Baz pretty much sums up this place. Ok for a few drinks but it is highly expensive and I prefer to just sit a coffee here in the afternoon and watch the businessmen in action.

23 Dec 2009 13:53

Bar Med, Reading

Was a typical Bar Med when it was opened. Lovely location, ugly building and ugly chain bar. Drink and move on quick!

23 Dec 2009 13:52

The Allied Arms, Reading

Lovely hidden away pub and the Jukebox was in full working order! Definitely worth a visit.

23 Dec 2009 13:50

The Rose and Crown, Godalming

Excellent spot by the station to sample a quick pint before moving on. Only downside is there isnt much to keep people here, hardly full of life but not too shabby nontheless.

23 Dec 2009 13:47

The Red Lion, Godalming

Lovely pub which manages to keep so much of the charm of yesteryear. This really is worth a visit to sample the delighful ale range on offer and look at the history and memorabilia scattered around. Indeed the pool table in the middle of the pub merely adds to the charm although it can make things tight! This pub had even more atmosphere in the days of smoking in pubs. I hope they don't refurbish this place.

23 Dec 2009 13:46

The Star, Godalming

Did not have time for a pint as I was in a rush - this was however a locals type of pub and i've heard it has some fine real ale.

23 Dec 2009 13:44

The Richmond Arms, Godalming

Lovely pint of real ale in a good old fashioned pub. Nothing much to add but this does exactly what you'd expect and an excellent haunt, if somewhat outdated.

23 Dec 2009 13:43

The Anchor Inn, Godalming

This is a decent music venue and is now called Bar OneTen.

23 Dec 2009 13:42

The Horse Bar, Waterloo

As Bars go this is definitely one of the better ones. Really more of a young persons type of place but the bottled lager which I drank tasted fine and I may visit again.

23 Dec 2009 13:37

The Jubilee Tavern, Waterloo

This was a very nice gay pub. Not that I am a gay man, but visiting here was a fine and relaxing experience which gets away from the hussle and rush of being near the train station. Ashame it has all gone now.

23 Dec 2009 13:36

The Fire Station, Waterloo

I really have it down as a Restaurant. I am not sure I could face eating here however given how busy it gets. Surprisingly they serve a few good real ales which makes up for it. Still this is hardly a MUST-VISIT type place when visiting London.

23 Dec 2009 13:35

The Hole In The Wall, Waterloo

This is probably the best place to go if you're after 1st pint in London. And where better to go with the noise of the trains rumbling over-head. The rundown atmosphere of the pub just makes it more interesting. How many famous people have visited this watering hole I wonder?

23 Dec 2009 13:34

Wellesley, Waterloo

Much better than the other place nearby. This is a comfortable and cosy place to come if just arriving or soon to be leaving Waterloo! Also not that crowded given its so tucked away. Also a fine choice of beer and snacks. This is relaxing, given London is so hectic. Remember to ask for the code when using the bathroom!

23 Dec 2009 13:33

The Reef Bar, Waterloo

Not a great spot to go for a drink or bite after getting a train. The service is disappointing and the beer is not great, although there was Pride on tap at least. Ok for a view across Waterloo station but the food really was tasteless and just about edible.

23 Dec 2009 13:31

The Five and Lime, Guildford

It is far from my choice of a pub I have to say, but I suppose I should have realised with the greens lights. This is definitely a younger persons place to visit. No real ale whatsoever but that was hardly a surprise I must say. Given the limited choice I stuck with Becks Vier - which was tasteless and poor. The Guinness may have been better. I feel this is actually a Bar and not a Pub and will rate it low.

23 Dec 2009 13:25

The Three Pigeons, Guildford

Visited fairly recently and in general I am quite a big fan of The Three Pigeons. More ales on tap than when was the Farriers and the food is decent if not outstanding. An excellent place for Sausages which is their specialality. The upstairs seating area is a little too Gastro-Like. However I can forgive them as this remains one of Guildford's good old fashioned pubs.

23 Dec 2009 13:22

The Kings Head, Guildford

This is in very man ways an excellent and warm pub. Excellent place to go for the winter as it does feel pretty comfortable. The Pride was on fine form during a recent visit and the place did seem fairly popular with the locals. Staff were efficent, apart from one member! But it is nearly Christmas.

21 Dec 2009 10:34

The Keystone, Guildford

Came in here because the White House did not look inviting! Perhaps it was a one-off but this certainly made up for that. There appeared to be some real ales on, although just a couple. 6X was one of them. Decided on a bottle of Becks which was 3. Quite expensive, but that is probably the case everywhere. Serves me right for not drinking real ale! Plenty of space, although quite noisy as it was a Friday night.

19 Dec 2009 14:36

The George Abbot, Guildford

Went on Friday night. Thankfully it was not too busy unlike some of the other places in town, so was a relief to escape the crowd. My pint of Stella was on the money and I found a relaxing spot to down it. There was plenty of groups in here which made it a bit noisy. Next time i'll be happy to down a pint of the many ales on offer. On a final note, I did not see the pub quiz advertised? Perhaps it is no longer running. Good pub nontheless.

19 Dec 2009 14:34

The Keep, Guildford

Visited for a spot of lunch and it was pleasant going. Nicely home cooked food so they clearly make an effort here. The only complaint was a hair in the food but it happens! The music was not belting out which made for a relaxing time and the spot of Surrey Hills was definitely on the money. Good work!

19 Dec 2009 14:32

Rodboro Buildings, Guildford

A pretty good spoons, but i've found it can be a problem place to come especially for food since the place can get busy, not exactly steaming with customers just the staff all seem stressed out and the tables are genereally a tip. It is pretty disgusting having to sit at tables for 20 minutes with old food plates. Unloved in many ways, but having said that i'd be back as the ale is good and reasonably priced.

18 Dec 2009 13:31

The Bed Bar, Woking

Just virtually opposite the train station this large bar has perhaps a bit more class about it than Chameleon for example. However the staff are not always the friendliest and I can't help feeling this is just another place where youngsters especially like going to get very drunk. No real ale as you'd expect.

14 Dec 2009 12:36

The Herbert Wells, Woking

This is a great place to come in town but I do find it is best when is less busy as this is situated near the centre of Woking's troublemakers spot. No music inside which helps make conversation easy and the atmosphere is relaxed and chilled out. I can understand the bouncers being fussy about who gets in. A wide range of drinks adds to the excellence and service has always been first class despite it being busy.

14 Dec 2009 12:35

Remix Bar, Woking

Slightly off-centre night time venue in town. The good thing about this place is that it tends to keep the troublemakers of the town away. The late night music events will appeal to the young especially. Staff here do appear somewhat dis-interested which is off-putting. Nothing too exciting beer-wise as it is generally a bottle of lager type of venue. Not quite my cup of tea.
