The Marquis Of Westminster, Victoria

Paid my over 4.00 here for a pint. and wasn't pleased. This is like a rabbit trap for unwittingly tourists. They're dragged off the street and then turned upside down so their money falls out on the none-too-clean floor. They're given some warm beer and a some expensive chips and then sent back to Omaha and Kyoto to tell their friends and families what thieves are London publicans.

The Constitution, Pimlico

Good ordinary boozer. Prices creeping up but then it is Pimlico.

The Surprise at Pimlico, Pimlico

Like something from a Dickensian slum. Back bar full of homeless hostel dwellers so the atmosphere rather strange.

CASK Pub and Kitchen, Pimlico

Great beer but too expensive for me. Used to be a terrible place called the Pimlico Tram full of tattooed neck and scumbags. Now it's gone the other way and is where public school boys meet up to remember buggery in the quads.

The Gallery, Pimlico

Terrible rip-off joint. It's uncomfortable and feels completely like a 'chain' pub which I presume it is. Again.Terrible.

The Royal Oak, Vauxhall

The rebirth of the Oak. Beautiful Kenyan lady behind the bar and still a bit manky- the pub not the barmaid- A better range of ales than previous and clientele seeemingly less bewildered and derranged than in previous visits. Old school boozer. Great

The Eagle Ale House, Clapham

A proper pub.I loved the Pheasant Plucker cider which I don't see very often and my buddy was delighted/ecstatic/cheered and warmed by his ale - name of which escapes me. Perfectly situated for keeping away from the young Northcote groovers but quite inconvenient to get to which isn't such a bad thing.

CASK Pub and Kitchen, Pimlico

Great pub. Food splendid. Comfortable with a decent atmosphere. Lots of amazing beers but very expensive. The former clientele have been removed - probably thrown in the Thames with bricks in their pockets- and have been replaced by the local toffs. Toffs have to go somewhere for a drink and they don't like going places where people are too rough so this place is like a social
initiative and is probably being funded by David Cameron himself. In fact if he came in to the Cask he would blend in so well he would be well nigh invisible.
If you remember it as the Pimlico Tram don't worry I don't think there will be any more murders

The Royal Court Tavern, Sloane Square

This pub is now called the Botanist and seems to be a kind of zoo for posh chaps with no chins and for braying sulky inbred women...They're all kept in the same cage and for entertainment will spend huge amounts of money for stuff that is more or less the same as you might get in Wetherspoons for a tenth of the price. I think they like it because they are a particular species called the Sloaney Aloofs and I imagine they're endangered and will have died out soon because it's unimaginable that they would want to mate with each other or that any other species would want to mate with them.

The Asparagus, Battersea

I like it. It's cheap and it stays open 'til midnight. Good ales which seem to be well kept and the food is not poisonous- I hope. There's a clientele which is roughish or else bewildered but I've never seen any rumpuses myself- although I understand that it has been known to kick off in there and I can well believe it. . I like a place that makes no excuses for the fact that alcohol is an intoxicant and a soothing panacea for life's pressures and not something sexy and beguiling. Also that food is often fuel and not something which you want to have to sell your children in order to afford. Wetherspoons I love you.

The Elusive Camel, Victoria

I have never been in a social environment with a worse atmosphere than this place. It had a makeover not so long ago which of course looked like it might improve the place but of course when it reopened it was worse. One of the most terrible pubs in the world. Stupid effin' name and all.

The Pride of Pimlico, Pimlico

This is my local and one I choose ahead of all others in the area for its lack of pretension and because its easy-going to the extent of being a law unto itself.. It is quite grotty - the gents is truly grim- and it doesn't have any ales but it is a serious old-fashioned boozer with a hard core of alkies, a guvnor who is fond -maybe too fond- of the gee-gees and a regular loyal crowd who are at the older end of the scale. Anyone who reckons it is lairy or even dangerous is truly a big girl and should go up the street to the Cask - an excellent pub by the way- which is full to the gunnels with Jeremys and Tims. But if you suffer from inverted snobbery then stay in the Pride. I remember not so many years ago being in the Pride when then minister of defence and the hopme secretary (Des Brown and John Reid) and a shower of other jock politicos were in there watching Celtic play. Don't know what that means but it must mean something.
