The Juggs Arms, Kingston

We were pleasantly surprised when we went here for lunch today after reading some of these reviews. The six of us had a splendid time sitting outside in the sunshine. It is a beautiful pub, the helpings are generous (particularly of pudding), the beer is well kept, the staff very friendly and the menu interesting; I had the venison in apricot sauce which was lovely but the sauce could have been thicker and more of it. We spent an average 25 each over three hours for lots of drinks and two courses. We definitely plan to return again this year for their buy one get one free birthday outing offer, for which we all filled in our email addresses.

The Royal Oak, Newick

This is definitely the best pub in Newick where I live. The beer is excellent, the landlady (Beryl) welcoming, the service efficient and the style very traditional.

The Bull Inn, Newick

I live just along the road from all three Newick pubs. I have made many new friends playing at the open mike night in the Bull every Tuesday. It is a really great night with no rush to push us out at the end of the evening. I play mouth organ and concertina with friends on the whistle, fiddle, guitar, banjo, keyboard etc.

I wish the beer was cheaper but I am slowly growing to enjoy Shepherd and Neame, although a guest beer or two would be very welcome. I have only eaten twice at the Bull since Simon took over but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the cooking and the understatement of the menu.

Is sf1 for real? Maybe as he says he was at some other pub called the Bull in Newick; I have certainly never met anyone by that name and it is not the sought of name you could forget.
