The George, Balham

Like this place- bar staff can be a bit inattentive at times, regardless of how many people are in there, but they are unfailingly friendly, happy and usually pretty, a winning combination worth waiting for.
Can be a bit antipodean at times, with stereotypical aussies rampaging drunkenly through the pub clasping their bottle of wine (well it works out cheaper, doesn't it?) but overall, a cracking boozer.

The Clarence, Balham

Really good place- shame it gets so smoky, but July 1st should change all that. Really friendly and attentive bar staff, good choice and selection, food is slightly over-priced for what it is, but it is good.
Highly recommended in the Balham area

Fahrenheit 55, Guildford

I really like this little place- yes it does get packed, but as it opens later than the other pubs and bars, and is a damn sight better than any of the clubs, it would. The staff are very friendly and the owner and bar manager are both excellent. There is a great atmosphere in the place, despite the sporadic appearances of the entire Guildford rugby club.
Go, drink, try a cocktail or two, have a shot with the bar staff, have some tapas and have a great time. Live music is a big plus on a Monday too.
