Been here a few times, just when passing through. Cant help but think I need to find somewhere new to pop into when passing through.
Staff are placid at best, ale is over priced and it smelt a bit.
Not great.

A proper old-fashioned sort of place, but rather tatty and (to be frank) a bit smelly. No real ale, so had to do with keg Worthington. Some curious looks from the locals, but not unfriendly.

The John O'Gaunt Inn, Hungerford
A good old pub, good ale, warm welcome, a favourite

After a good visit about a month ago, I thought I would try it again and see how the refurb is holding up.
The ale is superb, to be expected really as owned by a renowned brewer.
Food is great, really nice to see a pub doing some old greats with a new twist. Thumbs up.
Onto the staff, and really the only let down. They were chirpy and energetic the first time I visited.
This visit, two girls stood and chat behind the bar and seemed chirpy and energetic until I asked of them for merely an ale and a menu, 1 dashed off, the other served me an icy glare followed by what can only be described as a grunt, almost as if I had interrupted their conversation.
Hopefully just caught them on an off day, as food and drink were both great, just a bit of a shame the staff couldnt have been a bit more pleasent.

Massive improvement from old times, much nicer decor, good food menu but above all else the beer was great! Friendly staff and came across very knowledgable about menu's and their drinks. Thumbs up!

The Crown at Aldbourne, Aldbourne
Popped in last week, not the best pub I've been to, but beer was good and food was reasonable, my dog was also welcome.

Great place for a good pint after a walk around the surrounding areas, nice welcome and good no nonsense pub grub, would reccomend

The Blundston Arms, Swindon
A large, busy, new pub near the Orbital shopping park on the north western corner of Swindon.
Nice enough, and done in the traditional style, but understandably a bit characterless. Bar service was efficient but rather impersonal.
Plenty of nice outside seating and interior very pleasant on the whole. The emphasis is mainly on food of course. This is pretty average fare (stale chips, overdone steak, mushrooms dripping with oil). Perhaps it was just an off day in the kitchen as I have heard good things from locals about the place.
Worth a look is you're passing.
Didn't try the ales but Thatchers Heritage cider was good, if you like that sort of thing.
