The Queens Arms, South Kensington

WOW - what a find. So tucked away but thats what probably keeps it good.
Been back twice now. Food great, Ales great, manager is a local legend from all accounts...

Dignity (Taylors of Finchley), Finchley

Interesting pub for this area. Does real ales and different range of beers from the just the ususal. Has an open kitchen as well so you can see that the chef actually gives a damn.
Food was good when it came out and i didnt see any sign of flies. Theyre also doing soup and a sandwhich offer for a fiver which i only saw after ordering the burger otherwise id have had that.
Much livlier on a friday night when i was in with a good atmosphere and staff serving as quick as they could. i think its defineltley one of the best pubs in Finchley. educating the masses.

The Southwark Tavern, London Bridge

Place is great.
Food has improved alot and its got more daring with 'fish of the day' instead of 'fish fingers for the day'
Music bang on but could do with changing that horrible wall paper on the back wall. Hidden Booths downstairs had TVs in that you could control but someone had stolen the remote from ours so had to change channels the old way.
Beers are good with three ales on when i was in.

The Calf, Clapham

Can't believe some of the below! Maybe it was when the old manager was in place but the new girl is excellent. I know shes only been there sinse the end of summer but whenever i visit Clapham on a weekend ill always go here to eat as theres always something new on the menu and staff who actually give a sh1t!

The one time i was there on a Sat night the place was pretty busy but they had 4 behind the bar and the booze was flowing steadily...

The Eagle, Hoxton

Definetley a pub. not a Gatro pub. Having said that the food is good and speedy.
Suprised by the remarks below about the service. Maybe cos of the shape of the bar but ive never had an issue getting served here.
The garden has been cleared up now as well so you can sit under the Gazibo with the heaters going full bore even at this time of year.

theyve also got a DJ playing from 8 on a friday night now. Haven't been in but i think hes playing more chilled out than head banging by the look of the poster

The Hen and Chickens, Islington

Can't believe the mark for this pub! 4.8/10. Its great. A bit weird and different yeah but always something going on and amazing line up of comedians given the size of upstairs.
avoid on Arsenal days though as can get quite crowded.
And it does food now. (of a sort) didnt the first time i went in...

The Alwyne Castle, Islington

I thought the food here was really good. Ive been for Sunday roast twice but was kept waiting nearly half hour the second time. Good when it came out though.
the outside looks a little scruffy sometimes but inside its great and good to see decoration touches done by the staff.
the manager said they were thinking of extending the garden into the car park some more so more room for BBQs next summer...

The Island Queen, Islington

i suprised by a few of the comments below about the food as i've found it to be really good. i generally eat here more in the evenings though so haven't been in when its packed.
They do some great homemade food like the Cottage pie and Macaroni cheese and at 6.50 for that its not expensive.
I know its famous for its Ales but also does some other weird lagers that ive yet to try like Schneiderwiess etc.
Great pub.

The Bull, Islington

This pub has had an internal face lift since I was last in and its defo a big improvement, but its a bit orange. - Once we got over this it was all pleasant suprises for a pub thats on the main drag of Islington. The range of beers they have on draught is a suprise with no need to drink the usual dross of Carling, Stella etc.
Food took about 15mins to come out which is suspiciously quick but one taste of the burger was enough to convince me that the chef must know their stuff.
Have gone back again but was much busier and stuggled to get a seat
