Ye Olde Thirsty Pig, Maidstone

Come on Maidstone - this boozer is worth a lot more than its 6.2 rating. Excellent beer, friendly knowledgeable staff and reasonable prices. Quirky interior too, for those who like quirky. Worth at least an 8

The Skylark, Croydon

A very good Wetherspoons. Interesting selection of beers and very efficient service. Spacious interior, with a decent space outside for the smokers. A mixed clientele and no one bothers anyone.

The John Logie Baird, Hastings

Possibly the worst Wetherspoons in the South East. Difficult to get served and though many of the clientele are elderly, they are frequently aggressive and ready for a fight. Oppressively low ceiling too.

Ye Olde Chequers Inn, Tonbridge

Shame the reviews are so out of date. Have visited several times recently and there has always been an excellent pint of Harveys Best Bitter available. Very polite and efficient service. Nice to be acknowledged when you walk in.

Turmeric Gold, Tudeley

Come on Beerintheevening this is an Indian restaurant, not a pub.

Ye Olde Thirsty Pig, Maidstone

Excellent quality, locally produced beers and a warm welcome with a discount for CAMRA members. Not as small as it looks. The downstairs bar is a bit snug but upstairs there are a couple of comfortable, larger rooms.

The Filo (First In Last Out), Hastings

The FILO brewery offers distinctive, high quality beers, including the ultra hoppy Churches Pale, the classic Crofters bitter, Cardinal porter, premium Gold and the ginger infused Old Town Tom. The pub also offers some of the best home cooked bar food in Hastings - none of your heated up freezer foods and the goujons of cod are especially recommended as an upmarket version of fish and chips.

The decor is quaint but the ambience manages to make both the diners and the beer drinkers feel comfortable.

The Crown, Hastings

Consistently good quality beer, with an emphasis on smaller local breweries. Worth travelling a long way to enjoy the Burning Sky Plateau or the Three Legs Pale. Some interesting beers on top pressure too, e.g. Caveman Stout. A very interesting and reasonably priced food menu too.

Three Sisters, Rainham

Excellent beer, especially the Madcat regular bitter. Friendly staff and quirky locals

The Tower, Hastings

One of the best bars in Hastings. Friendly, knowledgable staff and a very good selection of your not so usual beers, all kept in perfect condition.

The Punch and Judy, Tonbridge

The session started well with a decent pint of Tonbridge Coppernob but then they turned on the canned music. The bar staff clearly liked it because the volume went up and up. It reached such a volume that I abandoned the idea of trying to tell them that our second pint, the Long Man blond was vinegary and not fit to serve. So we left and will not be back.

The Tower, Hastings

This used to be a very ordinary Shepherd Neame pub and is now a freehouse with a great selection of local and not so local beers. The atmosphere is friendly, the bar staff attentive and The Tower is quite rightly rated as one of the must visit establishments in Hastings.

The Plough Inn, Westfield

Consistently disappointing real ale served here. It always tastes as if it was drawn from the bottom of the barrel. Not quite bad enough to complain about but no where near good enough to enjoy.

The Old Court House, Westfield

Expected to re-open in the summer of 2014. Will revert to the original name "The New Inn"
