The Grape and Grain, Crystal Palace

Hi Lezford just to let you know that JD Wetherspoon don't get back our lease until December 2016 and we are digging our heels until then. We love the Grape and to prove our staying power we are in the middle of a mini refurbishment . The outside has been re-painted and internally smartened up. Please come in everyone and tell us what you think! We have our fab beer fest arranged for October as always . Hope to see you there.

The Grape and Grain, Crystal Palace

I must disagree with the previous commentator. Ok you don't like music but there are plenty of people who do. The pub has always put on live music.. Probably not when you were there.
However as a lady I can massively disagree with the cleanliness of the loos. Not only do they smell better, have paper towels & soap always available. A detail you wouldn't be bothered by is the supply of ladies waste disposal instead of a grotty bin infrequently emptied. Also the lime scale around the sinks has been removed. Honestly, we girls notice these things!

The Antelope, Tooting

Very pleasantly surprised, lovely atmosphere, attentive staff. Good selection of esoteric beers, the bloke drank Wolfie smith ( Very topical ) mate drank, Tommy from Head in The Hat Brewing Company, both marvellous . Wine okay too.
Will defo be back

The Notley Arms, Monksilver

Please update your header, this pub is alive and kicking.
We visited today and ate an excellent lunch accompanied by Tribute & Exmoor, both in great condition. The staff & landlord were pleasantly welcoming without over doing it. We could see plans were afoot for further development..letting rooms etc. Would certainly visit again if in the area & recommend seeking this place out.

The Spice of Life, Cambridge Circus

Well I always enjoy coming to this pub when I visit central London, the staff are good, the tables are cleaned regularly( no piles of empties) The beer is well kept & the wine cold. I haven't eaten here, but this pub always ticks my boxes for consistently high standards in a tourist area that often doesn't care. My husband comment 'Good bogs' what more :-)

Anyone who wants to know the devious and underhand dealings that led to the closure of our great pub is directed to John Sweeneys great article in the November edition of the Oldie entitled "Death of an institution". Shame on Enterprise Inns!

The Lord Northbrook, Lee

Now renamed The Lord Northbrook, this pub has had superb refurbishment and re opened on Friday 25th at 7pm. Five cask ales on tap, firmly up Market with no TVs or fruit machines. The kitchen is not up and running yet but they are promising great things. The Wasabi nuts a a must try!

The Royal Standard, Blackheath

A very male orientated pub obviously big on sport, I'm a regular pub goer but felt uncomfortable at the bar. The decor is awful. On the plus side the food looked great & I am going to come back to try it out. Watch this space.

The Vanbrugh, Greenwich

Well I can understand the last reviewer. This should be a fab pub, situated in a good area.
Where does it go wrong? Beer old & tired, service, young & bored, food, well our Sunday lunch was grey & luke warm though plentiful on the meat front.
Don't feel as if there is any reason to make the effort to go back.
Sorry, I feel it could be so much better.
