White Horse, Silverstone

popular pub for the marshals and racers after Silverstone race events, so can get crowded.
Good friendly service and generous range of food - watch for the 2 steakers for a tenner nights.
Also has a private room upstairs to take a couple of dozen for meetings or specials.
Caution - don't believe the postcode to get there - it's actually a bit further down the high street, where it meets Church Street / Whittlebury Road

Queens Head Inn, St Stephen

friendly welcome and fascinating decor with old cornish wrestlers' pictures.
Beer seemed well kept, but the food got mixed reviews from our group - sandwiches were made with cheap plastic bread and the curry was watery and bland with very little meat. The casserole had a very generous portion size, but a bit overcooked.

The Victoria Inn, Milton Keynes

a bit cosy and tired furniture inside, but a good welcome and friendly locals. Small bar area close to the door can get cramped on a busy night, Good range of beers and usually have at least one from the local concrete cow brewery.
Prices cheaper and staff attitude is way better than the declining Albert opposite.

The Pickwick Inn, St Issey

a lovely warm haven on a cold day - well worth crawling up those country lanes to get there.
food is pretty expensive - bar prices match the evening restaurant amounts. Very well cooked food and generous portions of soup, mains and puds. coped well with an unbooked invasion of a dozen of us, although there was not much other custom in at that time.
