Tattenham Corner, Epsom Downs

As has been said, great location and Im afraid thats about it.

Drinks quality was ok, but had to wait in a queue 5 deep at the bar with one person serving on a busy (as they should have anticipated really) sunny Sat afternoon. Plenty of staff on but none of them really doing anything, oh one girl was cleaning the bar but not serving the now 10 strong queue of potential customers.

In the garden tables were covered in empties, on of our group even suggested at the bar that someone actually clear them up, we watched one lonely group of empty glasses sit there for over 2 hours!

Ordered their starter for two, best part of about 8 if memory serves me well, was ok in quality, but only ok, nothing special, and the portion size really wasn't for two.

Oh and to my surprise if you've been up on the downs walking your dogs as prob thousands do every weekend, don't take your dogs to this pub as they're not allowed in, not even in the garden that lends itself perfectly to walkers and dog walkers alike, very strange decision to ban dogs in my opinion.

Would go back to get a second opinion and see if they were just having a bad day, suspect not though.

The Chichester Arms, Mortehoe

Went there whilst on holiday last Mon for my best mates birthday and with 4 adults and 2 children there wasn't a single complaint on the food or drink front. A Good list of specials, some were a little expensive though. The T Bone at 18 was a lot but we found out it was a lot of steak as we bought it as a birthday present for our friend. Doubt we would have ordered it otherwise though, I have to be honest

The Old Court House, Chulmleigh

Made it there on Sat and Sam and Paddy remembered instanly despite not having seen us for two years. We and our two dogs were able to stay in the seperate flat out the back for a very reasonable rate, even sleeps 6! Had a great night catching up with a few people and Paddy cooked us a mean and fairly sizeable full English in the morn, wish we could have stayed for more than one night, but home and work beckoned

The Dukes Head, Tadworth

Been there 4 times since Sept 2007 and I have to admit the food and service are really 2nd to none in the area. Have in troduced 3 other couples to the place, they also loved it, so much so we were there last Thu night for a meal for a birthday of one of said couples.

Great value too, and has a nice friendly atmosphere. Dog friendly and a nice little garden, also has a mini classic VW meet in their car park every other Thu

The Amato, Epsom

Went for dinner last night, nice looking pub, decent choice of drinks but have to admit the menu is very limited, much more bar snacks than anything else, plus there is no seperate eating area as such, but then it is a pub first and eating comes second I suppose.

Food itself was ok, not exciting but equally not offensive, just didnt really take off as such.

Bottle of Pinot we had and a J20 was 15.50, a little expensive but not mega money. Certainly cheaper than other places and wine was perfectly chilled and wine bucket supplied to keep it cool.

Will poss pop back for a drink, but unlikely to return for the food I have to admit.

The Vibe, Epsom

I disagree as well.

Its a good pub with great locals and the beer isnt that expensive, and good quality. Some of the pubs in Epsom need to clean their lines more and take a lesson from the Vibe as they seem to be spot on with theirs.

Maybe it was an off night, every pub must get them. Thats the prob with a "public house" anyone can walk through the door, but I have seen the two owners refuse to serve people if they were drunk or rude and equally ask people to leave if they step out of line, and thats for the good of everybody.

Only one bad comment so far, but you cant please everybody. Maybe a competiotor to the Vibe, who knows?

Certainly wont stop me drinking in there as its a great little pub!
