The Solstice, Peterborough

Sorry God.

I don't work for another local pub and my mother's been dead for 9 years.

My review was reflecting my thoughts on the pub which I regard as no better than many other modern run of the mill pubs that Peterborough is well supplied with.

The food isn't too bad there and there's plenty of it but the christmas meal I had there was very ordinary.

The Alexandra, Penzance

Cracking pub especially as its within staggering distance of the B&B I stay in prior to going to Scillies in October, (Penalva on Alexandra Road)

Excellent landlord of a type not often encountered these days. Someone who cares about the ales and the people that consume them.

Makes me wish I live in Penzance at times.

The Dolphin, Penzance

Regular eating and dining place for my annual Scilly trip for at least 10 years.

Beyond me this pub never gets in the Good beer guide as the beer's always been good as has the food.

Changed hands when I was last there in October and went to the old landlord Bob's last night. Looking forward to being back there on the 6th of October and seeing what its like under the nouveau regime.

Charters Bar, Peterborough

Not been that often. But if (IMO)The brewery tap is the best pub in town this runs it a close 2nd and has its uniqueness to add to a quality range of beers and generally friendly atmosphere. Plus its near to and open when the nearby beer festival's on in August.

The Drapers Arms, Peterborough

Best up and coming hostelry in Peterborough. Non smoking, good quality beer and as its a wetherspoons, reasonably priced and decent quality grub.

Will probably get in Good beer guide this year.

The Brewery Tap, Peterborough

Best pub in Peterborough for me.

Quality beer and food, nicely designed interior and a friendly atmosphere. Live music on occasions. Can get very busy on weekend evenings despite it being a bit of a walk from the city centre.

The Ostrich Inn, Peterborough

Recently re-opened after refurbishment. Bogarts is an acquired taste. Its not a hip and trendy pub but has great beers, good value food and handy for the city centre.

I like the place but its not to everyones taste.

College Arms, Peterborough

Handy pub for work. Beer quality variable and reasonably cheap but not all of its on despite being on display at the bar.

Very popular at all times so can be difficult to get served. Now prefer the Drapers arms which is non smoking but its further from work so don't go too often.

Yates's, Peterborough

Post modern bullshit pub with postmodern bullshit punters, disinterested staff, crap beer.

Avoid at all costs if you're a grumpy old git like me.

I'll give it one as they let me in once.

Goodbarns Yard, Peterborough

Cracking pub. Looks a bit shabby and a bit naff but quality beer, live music and a landlord that cares about his ale.

Curerntly doing probably the best value breakfasts in Peterborough with a full breakfast for 3.95 with a smaller one for 2.50.

5 mins walk from the market.
