The Barley Mow, The Sands

Popped in for lunch on a lovely bright spring day, wow, was I disappointed.
Service with a smile please, it doesn't cost anything. The bar lady was cold, sour and bordering on rude. Food wasn't a lot better and was expensive for what it was ( a sandwich and ciabatta)
It's a nice looking pub in a great village and should have been a nice experience, instead I felt like I'd gate crashed a funeral.

The White Horse, Shere

Great location in the beautiful little village of Shere. Popped in for a quick beer and lunch today. First impressions not good, it looks rather dirty and un loved, the christmas tree and half hearted decorations are a litttle premature considering it's not even halloween.
Barman not engaging, food seemed ok if a little over priced and the range of beers were limited. Worst of all, I was stung twice by a wasp who had crawlled inside my trousers at our table. After returning from the toilets to remove the offending insect I then started to notice them on the chairs, windows and curtains. As it was colder they were drowsy and not flying around, other people around us were also noticing the wasps. By this time we had gone off the pub and quickly settled up. On the way out I mentioned the wasps to the barman who shrugged and told me to speak the manager. He in turn seemed non commital, and made no attempts to help or even acknowledge the problem.
As with other reviews it appears that the pub has a great location and attracts a large number of unique visitors. It therefore doesn't worry about customer service and so will get a low score from me for the food and bar staff.

The Good Intent, Puttenham

Great pub, last time i was fortunate to go there was the day after the leaving party for the last landlord. Arrived covered in mud from a bike ride looking cold and bedraggled but got the best service from the bar staff even though they had been on the lash the night before up unitl about 4pm apparently. By the sounds of it the new owners have only enhanced the atmosphere.

The Spotted Cow, Lower Bourne

Nice pub outside of town. Newly renovated interior is nicely laid out and very smart, no spit and sawdust here! Beer and wine well kept and not unreasonably epensive. Food can be a bit hit and miss though. First couple of meals (lunchtime/early evening snacks) were well presented and very tasty. Last time was a little dissapointing with limp salad and burnt food. Maybe this was the time of the chef leaving. Will certainly go back but will probably be wary of the food until proved wrong.

The Blue Bell Inn, Dockenfield

Great find, nice and comfy with a good garden area with a kids play area. Looking forward to it being a regular stop on a bike route with the family.

The Barley Mow, Tilford

What a shame! Great location by the cricket ground and river but ruined by the staff. Food is overpriced and nothing special, staff are basically rude. Absolutely no atmosphere. You don't get many pubs who actively go out of their way to make life difficult for families - this is one of them though. in the winter they like families to sit in the out house! Would suggest the Duke of Cambridgeshire or Donkey instead
