't Brugs Beertje, Bruges

Spent an excellent afternoon here sampling as many of the 300 beers as we could - I would especially recommend the ? IPA - I can't remember the name, but it was 9% and it had a leprechaun on the front who looked like he was taking a dump. .

We only got there 20 minutes after it opened and it was already absolutely heaving and they only had two staff on for the first hour - so service was a bit slow but the atmosphere was great.

Sportsman, Huddersfield

I went in at the weekend for the first time since it re-opened. I had been in once before, many years ago as a teenager - a mistake I never repeated. I thought the new version was excellent - maybe not up to the standards of its older brother - but getting there. Nice selection of ales and friendly atmosphere.

Fellows Morton & Clayton Ltd, Nottingham

I spent a large chunk of my youth in this pub - before staggering on to the Irish. Went back for the first time in years and hasn't changed much (or been cleaned). Always lively and with good beer and the food was fine too

The Bentinck Hotel, Nottingham

A bit grim admittedly, but we stayed here on my stag do and the landlord was kind enough to open the bar for as at 8am. So that gets it a couple of bonus points

The Head of Steam, Huddersfield

Good for a drink after work but the beer isn't the best kept I have encountered

The Rat and Ratchet, Huddersfield

Called in for the first time in nearly 10 years and it has hardly changed from how I remember it. Still excellent beer and I'm sure some of the locals were still in the same places. You would have thought some of them would have died, found jobs, got girlfriends by now. Highly recommended at a frequency greater than once per decade

The Cellar Bar, Batley

OK but often too quiet - not as good for atmosphere or choice of beer as its big brother (the West Riding at Dewsbury Station) but equally handy for a train based pub crawl.

Whistler, Dewsbury

Friendly bar staff and locals - no hand pulled beers unfortunately. Food basic but good value.
