Been in here many times. Not had a bad experience, yet. Good selection of beers. Not too overpriced (considering it is Highgate). Normal (unpretentious) barstaff, always polite to me. Most of the punters in here are relatively normal, too. Very few Nathan Barleys. Probably the only pub in Highgate I would recommend.

Great location! Reasonable food (not bad, not brilliant). Popular with families (so why not get the other highchair fixed, instead of making parents timeshare a single highchair?).Only downside is that this pub is an absolute magnet for savage Chavs.
Why is it all the nice pubs are over-run by, either, Chavs or Nathan Barleys or braying suited knobbers? Sometimes a combination of all 3!

Sadly, had to watch the gradual decay of this place over the last 10 years. A real victim of the wanna-be culture that has gripped our country. Always rammed in the summer, full of the most obnoxious Nathan Barley types you could meet. The barstaff are rude and arrogant, yet seem to know F.A. about beer, even the ones they sell. And what's with the artwork in the beer garden?? It's a pub FFS, get a grip, even if it is in Highgate, how pretentious is that? However, come here on a cold winters evening and you will fall in love with the place. Straight out of a Dickens Novel. Wost pub in London during the summer, best pub in the World during the winter.

Great pub. Nice barstaff and clientel. Agree with all the positive comments below. Just one little suggestion..........................FOR F***S SAKE, WILL SOMEBODY CLEAN THE F***ING GLASSES, THEY ARE DISGUSTINGLY FILTHY. If you don't believe me, go in there order a drink, wipe the rim of the glass with a clean tissue, then examine the brown scum on the tissue. Nice!
