You can't leave it, can you Mister X..

First we are chavs, now we are numpties, how you love to insult us all from behind the relative safety of your keyboard..

At least you are starting to understand that your entries here are subjective and not fact ..... that's a move forward..

I suggest in that future that you refrain from making insulting comments regarding a pub's regulars, reel yer neck in mate!

I'm sure there are many pubs out there that are in urgent need of a MisterX review,
So run along now, you've plenty to do......

The Cross Hands, Fishponds

The last poster has said it all, my experience was very similar to his, not much beer, crap/ poorly trained staff, very expensive food, this place is all hype, it's trendy rubbish really, I can't see that it has much of a future, with the Porto lounge down the road for good food, and Witherspoons for a good choice of affordable beer.

Van Dyke, Fishponds

The staff in this pub are clearly overworked, they don't employ enough people to service a pub of this size, - it's not nice to be served by staff that are stressed out, for that reason I no longer go there.

The Greyhound, Fishponds

This is very much a locals pub, it's friendly, and its still frequented by a lot of local OAP's, which is unusual these days, Butcombe bitter always availible, the landlady is a real livewire......

The Angel and White Horse, Tadcaster

I can't travel through this area without popping in for a pint of bitter, (which is always in brilliant condition), and very cheap, even for upp north!, shame it's 200 miles from my house! Great Pub!

"but facts remain facts - it truly is an awful pub!"

MisterX- your opinions are not facts, they are just your opinions, and it would appear, reading the comments below, .......almost exclusively yours.

Do you have some kind of vendetta against this pub and it's regulars?...... whom you refer to as - " Yate young kiddie "chavs".... why label people that you barely know, in this most derogetory and dismissive manner? .... furthermore what is so bad about Yate/those from Yate?

"Never again" you say in your post of 20 Jun 2006,-- that's SIXTEEN months ago! --- and you're still banging on about how awful this pub is, you haven't been there for over a year and 3 months? - Not really a good basis for objective comment is it?

I frequently cycle from Bristol to the Lamb for few pints/some nice food, have a laugh and a joke with the locals, yes even the youngsters, I think this pub has a nice mix of age groups/types of people from all walks of life really.

I cycle to a lot of Pubs, and would say without any hesitation that this one of the best pubs in South Glos. - Cracking Butcombe bitter and Blonde!

The New Inn, Waterley Bottom

What a fantastic pub this used to be, my favourite for many years, I revisited the place a few times over the last few years, the beer was ok, but on all three occasions, despite glorious weekend weather, the place was virtually empty, something to do with the attitude of the landlord, I have been told ....

What a Great pub this is!, a testament to the hard work of the landlord and his staff ( who seem to stay with him for many a year ) where does he find such great bar staff? lovely looking girls, and charismatic, but polite barmen, the landlord himself has a cheery disposition and is always very welcoming.
I used to drink in the Rose and Crown, and upon reflection, although the landlord kept his beer in very good condition, he was a rather miserable character, the architect of the often gloomy atmosphere within the pub, which he nurtured with as much dedication as his beer celler!
When he closed the pub, I must confess, I didn't view the Lamb as an alternative, how wrong I was!, the quaility of the beer is now excellent!, the food is superb!, the locals are very friendly, a fun loving crowd, although the style of their humour can be rather surreal at times.
I have only one minor critisism, the locals never seem to have any lighters on them,if you go there, and you smoke, take a heavy duty one, something realiable like a Zippo, as it is less likely to let you down in your new role as an apprentice Ignitor.............
