The Blue Peter, Polperro

Real character and great staff. Probably the best little pub in Cornwall.
Every time we stay in the area we look forward to dropping in for a friendly drink. The beer is good the location is perfect nestled into the rocks and next the the harbour.
The food has always been great, Loving the flannel hash and sunday roasts.
It can get packed, with trippers quickly filling the small bar and upstairs food area.
Its dog friendly and in the winter has a lovely roaring fire to dry beside.

Bell Inn, Moreton in Marsh

In a word its Tired looking.
Lacking atmos, the staff are all miserable with long faces and not even a thank you as you leave. (and that when the pub is empty). The decor is in desperate need of updating or at least painting. The seats look tired and grubby. Beer selection can be good with Local and Cornish ale on tap along with a couple of Ciders.
The outside court yard area and rear garden seating are failing apart. which i suppose matches the pub itself.
To sum up, It needs to keep traditional but have a more friendly/warm welcome.

The Ship Inn, Teignmouth

Good food, great service and fair beer selection. The atmos was good and the view over the river and the boats is perfect for watching the world go by. A perfect mix. Well done.

The Swan Inn, Swinbrook

Warning! This once beautiful traditional pub has now been turned into a bog standard gastro pub for the invaiding London weekends. All the original features have been ripped out, and all that remains unchanged is the outside of this 200 year old pub.
Inside the old oak bar and cosy snugs have been replaced with a light ash effect bar and tables. and made open plan.
No longer is it a welcoming pub where you would go for a good pint, whilst warming by the fire on furniture that had been part of the decor for 100 years.
Now when you walk in, you are confronted by a barrage of waiting staff dressed in black, only interested in seating you for dinner. which leaves only a couple of small tables to drink.
If only Pubs had the same rights as listed building. Its criminal, and no longer a local, but a home from home to the London elite, and would be Lords of the manor in thier highly polished 4x4s.
