Now a Chinese Restaruant called The Emperors Crown, it closed as a pub about a year ago

Cubana, Sheffield

Great tapas, even had a vegetarian set menu which is impressive for that not exactly vegetarian style of cusiene! Interesting, if expensive at over 3 a bottle, range of bottled South American beers, and when the live music started a good atmosphers looked to be on the cards.

Well worth a visit, but students, make sure you have a parent paying!

Three Tuns, Sheffield

Reasonable pub on a sharp street corner, sitting right in the corner window on a sunny day was a pleasant experience. Range of 3 hand pulled beers, Adnams, Timothy Taylor landlord and Tetley, not exactly cheap (2.40 a pint) but served in good condition - possilby the best pint of Adnams's I've had. The food range was not vegetarian friendly, but the portions for a chip butty were not at all bad for a lunch and overall the pub ranks up there with many of the other more traditional pubs just off the bars of West Street.

6/10

The Frog and Parrot, Sheffield

A proper pub on Division Street, competing with the chain bars of West Street and the more trendy establishments along the rest of Division Street. Thechoice of beer here seems to have deteriorated recently, I think Greene King now own the pub and there's been a lot less varied guests lately. The beer is not exactly cheap (2.20 - 2.40 a pint)but is of higher quality than most which is found in the area (save the Dev Cat a couple of minutes walk away)It has regular live music which adds to the atmosphers and is a definate positive change from the standard bars dominating the area.

Swim Inn, Sheffield

Ok, this pub (ok, this Bar... Wetherspoons arn't pubs)is fairly standard Wetherspoons fair, the food is average but cheap, the drinks are fairly cheap, but the beer is usually good and there's usually good choice including usually a couple of local ones (Bradfield especially) on handpump for 1.59, which is hardly bad. One of only 2 real ale bars on West Street itself and compared to most of the West Street Bars this is really not that bad a place!

The Fat Cat, Sheffield

Doubtlessly a very good pub, like several in the area it has a fine range of beers on handpump, including at least 1 and usually more from the Kelham Island brewery in its back yard, as well as bottled beers. The food, biased towards vegetarianism which is great for me is tasty and cheap which certainly adds to the pubs charm. It is often a little cramped, as its reputation pulls in the punters despite its slightly out of town location in what is not the nicest part of Sheffield but you can usually get a seat. The brewery also does tours for groups, our group of about 12 people was given a barrel to finish off for the cost of a fiver each, so you can't beat that for value!

The Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield

Possibly my favourite pub in Sheffield, as mentioned below very close to the fat Cat but in a nicer building and with slightly more seating space with a dining area at the back. The Kelham Island tavern has a simillarly varied range of beers to its neighbour, often including a couple of fairly local ones from the Acorn Brewery in Barnsley. The pub has a 'no swearing' policy which caused some amusement last time I visited and a pet dog which can often be seen wandering the bar area, which adds to a good atmosphere. Great pub in an area well endowned with such.

The Wellington, Sheffield

A great little pub, part of the Don Valley beer trail and within five minutes or so of the Hillsborough Hotel, Fat Cat and Kelham Island Tavern, though the fact that there are so many good pubs round here tends to mean we never stay in one enough to fully appreciate it. I've never been in when the Port Mahon (house brewery) stuff has been on but the range is always fantastic, and most ales are under 2 and although it is a little small and looks a little shoddy from the outside (not a great area) it is one of the best pubs in Sheffield.

Old Monk, Sheffield

Went here for dinner on a friday afternoon, this place played ok music and the food was acceptable and 2 for 6.95 so not too expensive. The cracked window pains near both entrances were slightly offputting but it was, at least on a friday afternoon, much less of a chav pub than I thought it was going to be. 5/10

The Gig House, Wokingham

One of the Better Lloyds bars, very modern looking and a reasonable selection of beers, with one from the Loddon Brewery each time I've been. As more of a bar than a pub it adds variety to Wokingham and Is significantly cheaper than most other establishments there.

The Square Bar, Camberley

This Pub is now Square Bar. fairly pricey and not exactly packed on a Friday night. Park Street in generally seems to be lacking in decent establishments.

Sheffield Waterworks Company, Sheffield

Probably the worst Lloyd's I've been in, very little atmosphere and not even a great selection of beer. There are much better places in town.
