The White Horse, Richmond

I think this place has picked up and got back to somewhere near its best. Good food, friendly staff and nice beer. Have to avoid during weekend days for the number of buggies but evenings a good fun and staff friendly

The Marlborough, Richmond

Beerintheevening seems sometimes to be a place for people to let off or rant over any slight or issue. For me it's a good place, lovely pub, good garden and I think the staff are friendly and it has improved a lot. Also agree food has improved but not sure it would be my number choice as the wait for food is sometimes a little too long - still a good pub

The Roebuck, Richmond Hill

As everyone says amazing views but I also like the pub, monthly changing beers, efficient staff and I feel 'comfortable' in there, gets v busy in summer but they cope well

The Victoria, East Sheen

More of a restaurant than pub but food very good if pricey, friendly staff and nice decor - one of best "Gastro's" at a price in South West London.

The White Cross, Richmond

Great pub and for me most probably best in Richmond now. Do a really good job on packed summer days and never a massive wait. Beer good and a great atmosphere - a must on a summers day or even in the winter when it reverts to a cosy riverside pub.

The White Swan, Richmond

One of my favourites in Richmond, not sure about last comment but for me a friendly little pub focusing on food whilst still looking after their beer. Gets higher marks for the pub dog, Jake.

The Britannia, Richmond

Getting better all the time, nice atmosphere and good crowd but agree with poor toilets

The Duke, Richmond

It is a DIning area with a bar tacked on to it but have changed opinion of it, think it does what it does well and the staff are always helpful and friendly. Good food, can be bit deserted during afternoon but busy at weekends and great Roast.

The Spotted Cow, Lower Bourne

Went here for a meal with the family and first impressions were very good, lovely location, great garden and decor and friendly service. Unfortunately they were let down badly with the food which was distinctly average or even below average at above average prices. Maybe a bad day but wasn't really dealt with by management either.

I know it's a beer website and not food but if you advertise yourself as a foodie pub expect to be judged by it.

If you live close by worth a look to see if just a bad day, if you don't, like me, then I'd look elsewhere.

The White Cross, Richmond

One of best pubs in Richmond. New management done a good job of improving place. Good beer, atmosphere and service, still feels a local and tradtional pub despite the throngs that visit it - even better in the week. Teejay correct that the food may not be quite the gastronomic delight that prices suggest so loses a couple of marks but still a very strong 8/10.

One Paradise Road, Richmond

Never sure about this place, don't think it's sure about itself. Always reminds me of the wine bar in Only Fools and Horses when he's trying to trendy but he's not.

New Draught lager in now.....Budvar....4.00 a pint.

Back to the drawing board.

The White Swan, Richmond

Very good pub that is more biased towards food but without the usual Gastro fair of every table being set up as a restaurant. In yesterday for an excellent Sunday Roast, friendly service, Pride was in very good form. Teejay sums it up nicely, always feel relaxed in this place.

25 Aug 2008 09:22

The Cricketers, Richmond

Summed this place up before with overall good pub but beer could be better and staff whilst friendly could be a bit better. Nothing changed in last year

The Prince's Head, Richmond

Better run than the cricketers with better beer and much better food. Nice feel inside especially round the back with the nooks and crannies. Food very adequate at lunch too - proper pub food but without the Gastro prices. One of the better in Richmond

5 Aug 2008 10:12

The Duke, Richmond

Food is good but for me overall disappointing - this place definitely isn't a pub, and not really a Gastro pub or a restaurant - can't drink at the bar and not great for room. Realise great for some but not for me sorry.

The Angel and Crown, Richmond

Have to agree with all said below by Joe and Matthew, taken over for me from the Racing Page a best drinking pub in Richmond. A good place to drink, watch sport and enjoy. If I am not looking for all the three above I can go elsewhere (which I do) but overall a good fun pub.

The Marlborough, Richmond

What absolute twaddle by mpw246pl.

In summary food was OK, service polite but couple of mistakes when taking the order and a poor dessert selection. This equals a long winded moan that is also double posted on the White Horse's page - seems others make mistakes too.

Unbelievable, only 5/10 for the manager immediately recognising his name and taking him to the table - what do you have to do to get more!!!!

This has not turned me away from the pub, only drawn sympathy to the Marlborough and no I don't work there.

Duke of Clarence, Hampton Hill

Comfortable pub which is easily better then the other disappointing pubs along Hampton Hill High Street. Admittedly this on it is own is not much of a positive review as the other pubs are very poor but the Clarence does a good pint and has a good friendly atmosphere. Almost the only choice on the High Street unless willing to head the the Roebuck

The Landor, Clapham

Enjoyed this alot. Friendly and welcoming and just a bit more rustic / real than the rest of clapham - definitely would make a great local.

The White Swan, Richmond

Very surprised to see the reviews below - My views of the Swan is of very good food with excellent service. Biased as it is one of my favourite pubs, but only biased due to the above. Have been frequent visitor for last year and if anything the food has improved and it is always a nice relaxing friendly time.

The Red Lion, Twickenham

Was in here for a quick game of pool and stayed the whole evening much to my surprise. Good live music - course it's a bit rough round the edges but nice to have live music and a boozer. Not sure it'll be my regular but good fun night locally can be had

The Kings Arms, Hampton Court

Hadn't been here for ages but good refurb, looks really good inside, the tourists are going to love it here. Service bit slow but friendly and I will pop in here again.

5 May 2007 15:05

The Albany, Thames Ditton

Have to agree with the reviews below - staff/service are appalling. There was one great Kiwi / Aussie guy behind the bar seemingly doing everything while the girls and maybe manager walked from one end of the bar to the other with a great look of intent but never making eye contact with the customers or indeed using their hands to do anything. A Spanish Meze plate was nicely presented if a little bland. The decor is cool but is it a restaurant or a hotel foyer. Used to love it as the Fox and will give it another go because of the location and I think if they just tried a bit harder this could still be a great place.

5 May 2007 15:03

The White Swan, Richmond

Good place that has friendly staff and management and excellent food. Can be a bit cramped inside but the Garden is a plus in the summer as a bit of sun trap and get caught out staying far too long. Nice to have a place that can aombine atmosphere and relaxation. Sundays here can be a nightmare, far far too busy but the rest of the time great

26 Apr 2007 15:11

The White Swan, Twickenham

I still like this place but more so during the week than weekend. Nice to have a place where people can sit in the street in the sun and enjoy a pint. On a note unrelated to the rating of the pub can I be sad and mention I saw a crisp delivery here last Tuesday -They unloaded 40 boxes of crisps - asked the delivery driver how long and he said a week. Now that is either a sign of how busy this pace can be or a really bad indication of the eating habits of Twickenham.

26 Apr 2007 15:06

The Clubhouse, Twickenham

Reminds me a bit of the White Swan in Richmond - in that slightly more grown up and far enough out of town to avoid the youngsters but close enough to walk. Could be a bit busier sometimes during the week but overall a good friendly place

26 Apr 2007 15:02

The Eel Pie, Twickenham

Good Pub that has avoided the Twickenham Chavs. Good atmosphere and good mix of locals and irregular regulars. Well worth a visit

26 Apr 2007 15:00

The Hook, Line and Sinker, Twickenham

As the Hook, Line and Sinker used to be Rubbish - but now as the Ranch .... well it's still rubbish. Before it was a poor all bar one with no clients. Now at least it has clients - on a weekend packed with youngsters just finished from School at Orleans by the looks of it.
What has happened to Twickenham - Just Church Street and THe Swan left or maybe the Clubhouse. The Ranch may be better than before but not saying much and I'm not going back to try.

26 Apr 2007 14:55

The Park Lodge Hotel, Teddington

It is like drinking in the foyer of a hotel. Loud, impersonal and the service is terrible - apart from that ok.

25 Apr 2007 20:07

The Mallard, Teddington

Well need to go back but first impressions are good - Not tried the food but servive good and friendly. OK it the decors a bit fancy and it is a gastro pub but what pub isn't nowadays. Money in food I guess. However why do you have to have a traditional local right next to a station in a very expensive real estate part of town. My guess is that this will do quite well for a new local to many. To me, anything is better than Old Railway - more traditional feel go to the Adelaide, want a bit livelier come here - can't suit everyone I guess.

25 Apr 2007 20:05

The Adelaide, Teddington

Went in here on a Friday afternoon after trip to park and it was first rate - great Irish Landlord made you feel welcome and proper wholesome pub food. Sure restaurants can do food better but if you want pub food and not gastro / restaurant prices then this was great. No idea what like in the eve and imagine more sedate but will try again soon

25 Apr 2007 19:56

The White Cross, Richmond

Lost a little warmth with the refit but not really an issue - still same pub, great in winter and early week then over run at the weekend summertime. Saying that a good pub espeically for the tourists - seems to be better under the new management I think

25 Apr 2007 19:40

The Cricketers, Richmond

Cossack has summed this place up for me. Beer could be bit better, staff exactly as said but friendly - overall good pub

18 Apr 2007 14:39

Orange Tree, Richmond

3.30 for Fosters 3.35 for Guinness. I know the toilets are nice but I don't want to single handedly pay for them. The refit is not too bad but I just can't bring myself to pay that much for a round for essentially a really nice All bar one refit with too many suits. Sorry.

18 Apr 2007 14:36

The Britannia, Richmond

As JohnBonser - or an airport lounge. Friendly staff make up a bit for atmosphere.
